Spring Wedding Ideas

Spring is the season when nature is blooming in brilliant colors everywhere that you look. It gives you wonderful inspiration for gorgeous Wedding Gowns and other ideas for your perfect wedding. AngelusBridal.com has a few of our favorite ideas for a spring wedding to share with you in today's blog.

Spring colors

A lot of people lean toward using soft pastels for a spring wedding. The season brings to mind bright blue skies and big fluffy clouds. Soft shades of yellows, mint greens, and cherry blossom pinks are especially popular. Watercolor palettes are a hot trend this year.

While many of the beautiful blooms that you will come across in the spring arrive in pretty pastels, there are plenty that show up in bright, bold hues too. Gerbera daisies, a wonderful spring flower, come in a beautiful variety of hot pinks, oranges, and sunny yellows.

As far as your bridesmaid dresses go, there is no need to stick to only one color. Use a few different shades that complement each other, just like a colorful flower garden. Go one step further and put flowers directly on their dresses with fancy floral prints.

Get outside.

Spring makes it tempting to host your wedding festivities outside. Everyone loves getting outdoors when it begins warming up, but the weather can be unpredictable. As with all outdoor activities, no matter what the season, have a backup plan in case of rain or a sudden drop in temperature.

As the sun goes down, there could be a slight chill in the air. Having warm blankets or throws available for your wedding guests is a thoughtful gesture. You can also plan to move the party indoors after the sun sets.

"April showers bring May flowers" is a saying for a good reason. Rain showers can pop up unexpectedly in the spring. Consider incorporating umbrellas or parasols in your wedding decor. Umbrellas can take on double-duty for both rain and shading guests from the sun.

Borrow from nature.

If you do choose to host all or a part of your wedding outdoors, picking a venue with lots of flowers and blooming trees surrounding it will do half of the decorating for you naturally. If you do need to add a little something, butterflies and love birds are wonderful spring symbols to use. A few flowers that are in season in the spring are:

  • Peony
  • Sweet Pea
  • Lilac
  • Ranunculus
  • Hydrangea
  • Tulip
  • Calla Lily
  • Gerbera Daisy
  • Magnolia
  • Rose

For any part of your wedding that will take place indoors, bring some of the outdoors inside with you. Flowering branches look beautiful in vases on a table. Long garlands of greenery with a few flowers tucked in here and there is perfect for long reception tables. You can even make a few edible centerpieces out of seasonal fruits like apricots, oranges, or strawberries.

For the ceremony altar, use large potted plants or trees for decoration. A few twinkle lights arranged within them looks wonderfully romantic. Potted plants also make lovely centerpieces and favors for guests.

6 Tips For Choosing Clothing For Your Engagement Photos

Before everyone sees you in that gorgeous wedding dress that you found in our South Florida bridal salon, you and your handsome groom can get dressed up and show off your love in beautiful engagement photos. In today's blog, Angelus Bridal & Formals has a few tips on how to decide what to wear for those romantic pictures.

Be Yourself
These photos are meant to show people who you are as a couple. Stick to your regular personal style. Don't wear something that you'd normally never wear or that makes you uncomfortable, just be your beautiful selves. You may want to dress up a little more than usual, but don't try to look like someone you're not. The more comfortable you are, the more relaxed and natural your photos will look.

Plan Ahead
Sticking to that "relaxed" theme that we just mentioned, you don't want to show up to your engagement photo shoot late and stressed out. Make your fashion decisions at least a week prior to the shoot so that you don't have to worry about it the morning of. Decide together if you want to dress formal or keep it casual. Remember that weather can change and surprise you, so account for that and prepare things that could come in handy, such as jackets, umbrellas, etc... (Rain doesn't have to ruin your pictures. It could add a unique and interesting element to them!)

Coordinate
You and your groom don't need to wear matching outfits, but you should choose clothing that compliments each other. Pick out colors that go well together, and you can even match certain elements to make the clothing tie in with each other. For example, if you outfit is blue and he's wearing khaki, he could add a blue tie or pair of socks for a matching element.

Choose Colors Wisely
If your photos will be taken outdoors, you can pull color inspiration from the surroundings, and maybe even from the season you are shooting in. Plaids and warm colors work well for fall photo shoots, while bright, cheery colors look great on a summer day. Bright colors really tend to stand out in photographs, and if you wear something patterned, opt for bigger prints rather than small ones.

Use Props
Bringing a few accessories that help to tell your story into the photos can be a fun idea. If you are both avid readers, or perhaps you met in a library, take a few shots peeking out from behind a book. For couples that are big sports fans, bring along some equipment, or even have part of your shoot take place on a playing field. If you want a more festive feel, pick up a bunch of colorful balloons to carry around for an added element of fun. Holding up blank signs allows you to add in words later to make customized thank you cards or save-the-date announcements.

Get Goofy
Don't forget to have fun with this, as you should strive to do with everything surrounding your wedding. This is a magical time for the two of you, and you should enjoy every minute of it to the fullest. A good photographer should be able to help you loosen up and encourage you to be yourselves. Sometimes those impromptu photos taken when you've let your guard down turn out to be the very best shots.

Those tips should help you to find something to wear to your engagement photo shoot that wonderfully tells your story. When you're ready to find something fabulous to wear on the actual wedding day, that's where our South Florida wedding dress store comes in!

5 Beautiful Ways To Incorporate Your Mother's Wedding Day Look Into Yours

Luckily, when it comes to wedding fashion, the best wedding dresses in South Florida have a timeless look that fits into any era. Wearing your mother's bridal gown is a lovely gesture, but many bride's prefer to find a special dress that they can call their own. You can easily incorporate your mom's wedding day look into yours without having to wear her entire dress. Angelus Bridal has listed a few of these creative ideas for you below.

Wear Mom's Wedding Accessories
You can wear the jewelry or bridal veil that your mother wore in her wedding with your brand new wedding dress from our South Florida bridal salon. To make sure that those accessories work beautifully with the gown you choose, bring them along to your shopping appointment. One of our talented consultants can help you find a dress in your style that has elements to complement Mom's accessories.

Carry A Piece Of Her Gown With You
You could also take a swatch of your mother's wedding dress to carry in your bouquet or as a handkerchief to catch all those happy tears. This can be taken from an inconspicuous area so that it doesn't damage the overall look of her gown. If there is a particular detail or embellishment that you love about the dress, our seamstress may be able to incorporate it onto your bridal gown in some way.

Duplicate Her Bridal Bouquet
The flowers that you carry down the aisle are also a piece of your overall wedding day look. A talented florist will be able to make a bridal bouquet for you that matches, or at least resembles, the one that your mother carried down the aisle for her own wedding. You could add a sentimental moment into the ceremony by giving her a flower from it as you walk down the aisle, before you join your future husband at the altar.

Copy Her Hairstyle
Bring Mom's wedding day look to yours by wearing your hair the way she wore hers. If it's an up-do, there may be a way to wear it like that for the ceremony, then "let your hair down" for the party at the reception.

Recreate A Photo From Her Wedding
A very special memento for both you and your parents is to recreate a photo from their wedding day with your new groom. These will look amazing displayed next to each other. Go the extra step and have your photographer take a similar photo of Mom & Dad in the same pose all these years later.

If you're the type of bride that wants her very own, brand new, fabulous wedding dress, that's perfectly understandable. This is your special day, and you deserve to show off your own personal style. The above ideas are both a wonderful way to honor your mother, and also a great way to keep from hurting her feelings if she wants you to wear her gown, but you don't want to.

When you come in to our wedding dress store in Pompano Beach, let us know that you want to incorporate your mother's wedding day look into your own somehow. The wonderful staff here at Angelus Bridal & Formals can help you find something that both pays homage to your mom's dream dress while giving you the gown of your own dreams.

5 Wedding Fashion Tips For The Groom

Our main focus is generally making sure that the bride has access to the best wedding dresses in South Florida, but the groom needs to look incredible too. Angelus Bridal & Formals has pulled together a few tips to make sure that he looks his gorgeous best on your wedding day.

Be Inspired By Personal Style
A gentleman will most likely be dressing much nicer on his wedding day than on a regular day, but he should still look like the man you fell in love with. Don't pick out something stiff and uncomfortable just because it's the style you think should be worn to a wedding. Even a traditional suit can be dressed up to incorporate a touch of personal style with fun extras like a unique boutonniere, a special hat, a flashy tie, silly socks, or some accessory that makes the look all his.

Dress For The Situation
You also need to think about the time of year, the time of day, and the weather expected when you begin choosing the groom's attire. Comfort is key. A daytime wedding in the summer calls for clothing that is lighter in both weight and color. Evening affairs are generally a bit more formal, and darker shades look best.

Stand Out
Even if the groom will be wearing the same suit as his groomsmen, he needs to have a little something extra in his look so that he stands out from the crowd. This can be done by wearing a different colored vest or tie than the other guys, a different type of suit jacket, or possibly a unique boutonniere that makes a "groomy" statement. It's important that the groom is the obvious VIP at a glance.

Get A Perfect Fit
If tuxedos are being rented, everyone's measurements need to be precise, but the groom's suit most definitely needs to be as perfect a fit as possible. Lots of care went into fitting the bridal gown and perfecting that look, and the groom needs to match the bride's magnificence! Always have a professional take the measurements for a rental, or choose to purchase a suit that fits correctly.

Go Shoe Shopping
Shoes can be rented when you rent a tuxedo, but they are not always the most comfortable choice. A good pair of dress shoes is something that every man should have in his closet, and this is the perfect occasion to pick up a brand new pair. That way you know for sure that they will fit like they should. Also, you will be able to break them in before the wedding so that they aren't stiff and uncomfortable, which will make it much easier to dance the night away!

Our South Florida bridal salon is a "one-stop-shop" when it comes to weddings, housing not only the most beautiful bridal gown store in Pompano Beach, but while you are here you can also rent tuxedos, as well as speak to a makeup consultant, photographer, cake designer, and more.
