6 Tips For Choosing Clothing For Your Engagement Photos

Before everyone sees you in that gorgeous wedding dress that you found in our South Florida bridal salon, you and your handsome groom can get dressed up and show off your love in beautiful engagement photos. In today's blog, Angelus Bridal & Formals has a few tips on how to decide what to wear for those romantic pictures.

Be Yourself
These photos are meant to show people who you are as a couple. Stick to your regular personal style. Don't wear something that you'd normally never wear or that makes you uncomfortable, just be your beautiful selves. You may want to dress up a little more than usual, but don't try to look like someone you're not. The more comfortable you are, the more relaxed and natural your photos will look.

Plan Ahead
Sticking to that "relaxed" theme that we just mentioned, you don't want to show up to your engagement photo shoot late and stressed out. Make your fashion decisions at least a week prior to the shoot so that you don't have to worry about it the morning of. Decide together if you want to dress formal or keep it casual. Remember that weather can change and surprise you, so account for that and prepare things that could come in handy, such as jackets, umbrellas, etc... (Rain doesn't have to ruin your pictures. It could add a unique and interesting element to them!)

Coordinate
You and your groom don't need to wear matching outfits, but you should choose clothing that compliments each other. Pick out colors that go well together, and you can even match certain elements to make the clothing tie in with each other. For example, if you outfit is blue and he's wearing khaki, he could add a blue tie or pair of socks for a matching element.

Choose Colors Wisely
If your photos will be taken outdoors, you can pull color inspiration from the surroundings, and maybe even from the season you are shooting in. Plaids and warm colors work well for fall photo shoots, while bright, cheery colors look great on a summer day. Bright colors really tend to stand out in photographs, and if you wear something patterned, opt for bigger prints rather than small ones.

Use Props
Bringing a few accessories that help to tell your story into the photos can be a fun idea. If you are both avid readers, or perhaps you met in a library, take a few shots peeking out from behind a book. For couples that are big sports fans, bring along some equipment, or even have part of your shoot take place on a playing field. If you want a more festive feel, pick up a bunch of colorful balloons to carry around for an added element of fun. Holding up blank signs allows you to add in words later to make customized thank you cards or save-the-date announcements.

Get Goofy
Don't forget to have fun with this, as you should strive to do with everything surrounding your wedding. This is a magical time for the two of you, and you should enjoy every minute of it to the fullest. A good photographer should be able to help you loosen up and encourage you to be yourselves. Sometimes those impromptu photos taken when you've let your guard down turn out to be the very best shots.

Those tips should help you to find something to wear to your engagement photo shoot that wonderfully tells your story. When you're ready to find something fabulous to wear on the actual wedding day, that's where our South Florida wedding dress store comes in!
