Tips For Finding Your Wedding Headpiece

You are the star of the day, your bridal gown brings your natural beauty and style forward, and the headpiece you choose is the crowning glory. (In some cases, it's actually a crown!) Our South Florida bridal salon is here to make sure you find that wedding dress you've always dreamed of, and once that's done, it's time to accessorize. Angelus Bridal & Formals has put together a few tips today to help you find the perfect bridal headpiece.

Bridal Headpieces
There are lots and lots of different kinds of bridal headpieces for you to choose from. These include: barrettes, hair clips, hair combs, tiaras, crowns, fascinators, flowers, headbands, jeweled hair pins, hair ribbons, and more. Personal style will come into play when you are making a decision, but so will some of the tips listed below.

Use The Dress For Guidance
All of your wedding accessories (headpiece, jewelry, shoes) should work together to create the stunning look you are aiming for. Use the embellishments on your wedding dress to guide the headpiece that you choose, and always remember to match your metals. If your gown has silver accents, lots of gold in your headpiece will most likely break up the unifying look you are shooting for. You want everything to look as if it were designed to be worn together.

Decide On A Veil
First of all, decide whether or not you want to wear a veil with your wedding dress. If you do, it will need to fit in with the type of headpiece that you will have on. Decide which of the two is more important to you, pick it first, and then work on finding it's perfect match. Just like with the dress, these items should look as if they were made together.

Look At It From Every Angle
Once you find a type of headpiece that you love, put it on and look at it from every possible angle in the mirror. Your wedding day photographs won't all be taken from one vantage point, so you will want to be sure that it looks just as incredible from the back and the sides as it does from the front.

Think About Long-Term Wear
While looking amazing is high on the list, comfort is every bit as important. Be sure to pick out a headpiece that you will be able to wear throughout the entire ceremony and reception, unless you will be removing it once the vows are done and the party begins.

Keeping all of those factors in mind when you are shopping for your wedding headpiece will help you to make a good decision. The talented consultants at our wedding dress store in South Florida can also be of great assistance. They match the perfect headpiece and veil to fabulous wedding dresses on a daily basis, and their input can help to make the entire process quicker and easier for you.

As an added bonus, if you happen to find your dream bridal gown on your first visit to Angelus Bridal, we have a "Love at first sight 'pays'" program that will give you 20% off the purchase of a veil and headpiece. (Some great bridesmaid dress discounts too!) Make an appointment with us at our Pompano Beach bridal boutique and let us help you find the perfect wedding fashions to bring out your natural beauty for your special day.

Take The Stress Out Of Wedding Planning

April is Stress Awareness Month. Last week our blog brought you "7 Wedding Dress Shopping Myths Debunked" to take some of the stress out of bridal gown shopping. This week, Angelus Bridal & Formals has a few Do's and Don'ts to help take some of the stress out of the wedding planning process.

DON'T procrastinate
One of the biggest stress inducers during wedding planning is running out of time and having to rush at the last minute. Start out with a timeline that lets you know when each task needs to be completed, and then stick to it as closely as possible. If procrastination is a problem for you, consider hiring a wedding coordinator to keep you on schedule.

DO stay organized
Keep all or your wedding planning information (guests lists, contact information, decorating ideas, favorite wedding dress styles, etc...) in one central location. This can be a notebook or a digital planner on your computer or mobile device. With everything in one designated place, you'll never have to search for what you need. Also, keep a notebook with you at all times to jot down any brilliant ideas you have while on the go.

DON'T say no to help
You may want to do it all yourself, but there's no reason that you have to. Delegate tasks that don't have to have your personal attention to family members or close friends that want to assist. If someone offers to help, find a job for them. That's just one more thing off of your list taken care of so you can move on to the next task.

DO stick to your budget
Overspending may not cause a lot of stress right now, but you know it will be coming in the future when the bills are due. Don't fall into the trap of buying cute little things here and there that you might be able to use at the wedding every time you see one. Decide what's most important about your wedding day to you and your fiance, and designate a set amount of funds to go toward those things. If it's not on your "most important" list, you can probably do without it.

DON'T hide your feelings
Keeping things bottled up only guarantees a big blow-up later on, and if that doesn't happen, you will just keep making yourself miserable by not letting people know how you truly feel. This is your big day, and if you don't like something about it, speak up. You can be honest without going all "bridezilla," and in the end you'll get what you really want and the stress or worrying about it will be off your shoulders.

DO take time off
All work and no play... will drive you crazy! Don't let the planning consume your life. Schedule date nights with your fiance where you reconnect and all wedding-related topics are put aside for a few hours. If you feel a big ball of stress sneaking up on you, go get a massage, or sit outside with a relaxing cup of tea and some calming music playing in the background. Once you've had time to calm down and regroup, you can head back to the planning with a clear head.

DON'T sweat the small stuff
If the place cards need to be computer printed instead of done with calligraphy by hand, your guests aren't going to mind and it won't ruin your wedding day. As a matter of fact, if there are no place cards at all, a pretty seating chart posted at the reception entrance will still get everyone to the correct table. Little extras like that are nice, but not necessarily important to making your wedding a successful event. Concentrate on the real important stuff, like the vows you will be saying to each other, and if the rest is stressing you out, let it go.

DO remember to enjoy it
This is one of the most special times in your life, so if at any point you're not enjoying it, change the way you're doing things! The wedding is all about the love you get to share for the rest of your lives. A happy occasion like that deserves to be fun throughout, not just at the end on the wedding day.

Hopefully those tips will help to relieve a lot of the stress that wedding planning can cause. When it comes to shopping for the best wedding dresses in South Florida, we can take a lot of stress out of that task for you!

7 Wedding Dress Shopping Myths Debunked

Shopping for a wedding dress isn't something you do every day, and unless you have a lot of friends that brought you along to their shopping appointments, this is probably brand new territory for you. Some of the brides that come into our South Florida bridal salon are worried about things that don't have to be a problem at all.

Angelus Bridal & Formals has pulled together a few common myths about bridal gown shopping and the actual truths that make it a lot less intimidating. Your appointment does not have to be a stressful time, but rather an exciting, fun, and memorable one.

#1 - Brides Only Wear White
The truth is: Brides should only wear what makes them happiest! If you don't like the way you look in white, there are many flattering shades, such as ivory and champagne, that work equally as well, and most guests won't be able to tell the difference. It is also perfectly acceptable to wear a color further away from white, like a blush pink or even something brighter and bolder, or possibly a white gown gown with colorful decorations on it. Before Queen Victoria made the white wedding dress popular in 1558, it was comon in Western Europe to wear red to your wedding. Bottom line, if you love it, wear it!

#2 - You Need To Know Exactly What You Want
It is helpful to come to your bridal gown shopping appointment with an idea of the types of dresses that you want to try on, but don't limit yourself to just one style. Wedding gowns look different on every person and not always the same as the pictures you may have see. Try lots of different styles until you find the one that flatters you the most. Our experienced consultants are incredibly helpful knowing which gowns are perfect for different body types. Step outside of your comfort zone to try a few of their suggestions on and see what you think.

#3 - "THE Dress" Must Make You Cry
Some women find their dream dress, but second-guess themselves because they didn't begin crying when they saw it in the mirror. It doesn't have to be that dramatic! When you see yourself in the perfect gown, it's a feeling you'll get that doesn't necessarily have to show outward other than the smile on your face. On the other hand, it can be a very emotional time, and you may cry happy tears for few different dresses. Wait for the one that makes you feel like the beautiful bride you were meant to be.

#4 - Never Pick The 1st Dress You Try On
It may be rare, but it is very possible that your dream dress is the first one you step into. Once you get that feeling we talked about above, it's usually a done deal. Still, we suggest that you try on a few more just to be sure, but when every gown you put on only makes you long for that first one, you'll know that "love at first sight" is real!

#5 - Order The Size You Want To Be
Most women vow to lose weight before their wedding day, but gowns have to be ordered at least 6 months in advance. Some believe that if they order a size too small, it will be good incentive to diet. This is a dangerous game, because if that doesn't happen, it's very difficult and expensive to try to make a dress bigger. You should buy your wedding dress for the size that you are now, and if you do lose that weight, it's a lot easier for a seamstress to take it in for the perfect fit.

#6 - You Need A Big Shopping Entourage
In the movies, brides seem to bring everyone that they know to a wedding dress shopping appointment. In reality, too many opinions can make the final decision a lot harder than it has to be. You don't need a lot of people making you question yourself when you get that "I love this dress" feeling. Only invite friends and family that have your best interests in mind and know your personal style well. You need support, not drama.

#7 - It's Cheaper To Buy Online
Yes, you may be able to find gowns online at unbelievable prices, but the problem is, prices too low generally mean that the deal really is too good to be true. There are some authorized wedding vendors online that you can trust, but if the prices are extremely low it's usually a warning sign for a knockoff dress. The gown that shows up in the mail may not look anything like the picture that you ordered from, the material will be of inferior quality, and the dress may fall apart before you even get down the aisle.

Our wedding dress store in South Florida offers high-quality designs made from only the finest fabrics at very affordable prices. In addition to that, we have an entire clearance section full of gorgeous gowns for 50% off of the original price. They are exquisite dresses that we simply need to sell to make room for new inventory arriving, allowing you to get the gown of your dreams at a fraction of the cost!

Shopping for your wedding dress shouldn't be intimidating. It's a marvelous time in your life that should be fun and rewarding, full of happy memories. The talented bridal consultants at Angelus Bridal & Formals are here to make sure that everything is perfect and you receive our undivided attention during your shopping appointment. When you're happy, we're happy too!

When you visit our Angelus Bridal & Formals website, the first thing that you see at the top of the page (once you are able to tear your eyes away from those gorgeous bridal gowns) is a banner with the phrase, "Our Best Publicity is Our Last Customer!" We pride ourselves on being South Florida's most trusted bridal salon. Keeping a close eye on the feedback that customers leave for us online helps us to remain at the top of our game.

These reviews let us know what we are doing right, and what we can make an effort to improve on. They are also excellent for letting future customers know what to expect when they shop with us. Take a look at what a few of our most recent brides had to say about their shopping appointments.

"As a bride planning her wedding about a year and 3 months ahead, I enjoyed my very first experience here at the store. At first I was hesitant because I went bridal dress shopping on my own, but when I entered, David (I believe) made me feel like it was okay to come and look at the dresses in the store. Of course I convinced myself that I could try dresses on. Within minutes I started perusing through the dresses when Rhonda came and found me. She gave me a big smile and asked if she could help me with my selections. She made me feel comfortable, especially since it was my first time doing this for myself. Of course I tried a two dresses on and it was eh, then Rhonda asked if she could select something that she believed was made for me. Within seconds she returned, She placed me in the mermaid style sleeveless dress in within moments I could not stop staring at myself. I was speechless. Rhonda knew exactly what brought out my personality with the va va voom I was looking for. She described that the dress made me look like I was transitioning from young woman to Woman. She did everything right, down to explaining everything about the dress to me and the process of payments. She did not pressure me into getting the dress but allowed me to feel truly special. I will be returning for my dress soon!"
~Ketlyne, Wedding Wire review

"It is safe to say that I am absolutely obsessed with my dress, and with Rhonda. She made my dress shopping experience comfortable, special, and memorable. Her honesty and expertise helped make my decision to "SAY YES TO THE DRESS" easy! Thank you for everything!"
~Jessica V., The Knot review

"This beautiful place has gorgeous gowns! Rhonda and I hit it off right away. She listened to me and really made me feel special. It was top rated customer service. I absolutely love my dress and every dress I put on I felt beautiful. You can tell everyone there works so closely, it's like family. My family and I were so well respected and I couldn't ask for a better way to tell my story of how I found my dress. Thank you so much."
~Tabitha Sclafani, Facebook review

"This store is amazing!!! Rhonda and her team were extremely helpful and took their time to help me as I tried on different dresses. This was the third bridal shop I visited and I was extremely impressed with the level of service and with the beauty of these dresses."
~Harley, Wedding Wire review

"I had a great experience at Angelus. They worked with my schedule. Every appointment was ALL about me! I love the size of the shop as well and it is also very organized and doesn't have an overwhelming amount of gowns. CAN'T wait to wear my dress soon!!!"
~Iris, WeddingWire review

"My mom and I loved our experience at Angelus bridal. The selection was broad and all of the staff there were kind, honest, helpful, and communicative. They made sure my dress and veil came in on time, and they have a great and inexpensive alterations store right next door. Highly recommended!"
~Kristen R., The Knot review

"The sweetest most helpful people to get you to the happiest day of your life. Thank you so much ladies!!"
