Items You Should Bring To Your Wedding Dress Shopping Appointment

Last week's blog was all about how you can prepare for a successful wedding dress shopping appointment, and today we have a list of items that you should bring to Angelus Bridal when you begin the search for your dream wedding dress. Our South Florida bridal boutique already has the experience and knowledge to help you pick out the perfect gown, as well as the affordable and fashionable wedding dresses to choose from. You can bring the following things along with you.

Examples of What You Like
You've undoubtedly been eyeing tons of gorgeous bridal gowns online and in magazines ever since you became engaged (and possibly even before that!) Bring photos of some of your favorite designs when you come into Angelus Bridal & Formals for your shopping appointment. This will give our consultants an idea of what styles you are most fond of, helping them to find the dresses you most want to try on.

If you have swatches of your wedding colors or even some of your wedding decorating plans, go ahead and bring those with you too. Your entire wedding vision just may give us the perfect idea of a gown that matches it beautifully.

Special Wedding Day Items
Most of the time brides pick out the wedding dress first and then choose the accessories to go along with it. Sometimes, however, women already have a few specialty items that they want to wear on their wedding day, like an heirloom veil or piece of jewelry that has been passed down in the family, for example. Bring anything like this along with you to your shopping appointment so that you can find a bridal gown that looks as if it were made especially to wear with your special item.

Proper Undergarments
Nude-colored undergarments work best for trying on wedding dresses. This will avoid any brightly colored undergarments from showing through a gown and distracting you from the look and how you feel about it. Also, remember that a consultant will probably be in the dressing room with you since many gowns are not easy to get into alone, so wear underwear that you are comfortable wearing in front of them.

A strapless bra that offers good support is the ideal kind to wear to try on wedding dresses. Even if it's not the bra you will be wearing on the wedding day, it will give you a better idea of how the dress will fit. We carry the amazing Flattering Me Bra, designed by our very own Coco Abadi, owner of Angelus Bridal & Formals, in our bridal salon. It offers real support, natural cleavage, and amazing comfort under any special occasion dress, and it may be exactly what you need for the gown that you choose.

The Flattering Me Bra, available in white, nude, ivory, and black.
An Open Mind
Even if you come in with your mind set on one particular wedding dress you fell in love with in a magazine, don't be afraid to try on something completely different to compare it to. Bridal gowns don't look the exactly the same on different body types.

Even though you loved a specific dress in a photo, it may not be flattering on your body shape, and a dress that doesn't impress you on the hanger may look like it was made especially for you once you step into it. Our consultants have a lot of experience matching the perfect gown to our beautiful brides. She may have a suggestion that is worth trying out.

Supportive Friends
Everyone has an opinion, but when it comes to your wedding dress, your opinion is the most important one. Choose the people that come with you to your shopping appointment at our Pompano Beach wedding dress store wisely. A small group of supportive friends that know your style well and have your best interests at heart can be very helpful. Avoid bringing anyone that loves to cause drama and never has anything nice to say.

Happiness and Excitement!
This should be one of the most fun tasks on your wedding planning to-do list. Get excited about it and have fun trying on all of those fabulous dresses! We will help to bring that happiness and excitement to your wedding dress shopping appointment by treating you like the VIB (Very Important Bride!) that you are!

You will have our undivided attention during your scheduled shopping time, and we will do everything in our power to create a memorable experience and a successful bridal gown search. This is a very special moment of your wedding planning, and you deserve to enjoy every minute of it!

Now that you know what you need for a successful wedding dress shopping appointment, gather those items and give Angelus Bridal & Formals a call at 954-943-7768 to schedule a time to come in and find your dream wedding dress. There are lots of gorgeous and affordable bridal gowns to choose from, and we will help you locate the perfect one for your very special day.

Who Pays For What For A Wedding?

No matter what your budget, large or small, there are many costs to cover when it comes to planning a wedding. Traditionally, these costs were divided between the bride with her family and the groom with his family. Today, the "rules" have changed slightly, but often remain close to tradition. Angelus Bridal & Formals has created a list of what used to be expected as a guideline to help you come up with your own budgeting plan.

Back when more couples were getting married straight out of high school, their parents were still heavily involved in their daily lives and in many cases still taking care of their financial expenses. It made perfect sense that they would be there to help with wedding costs.

Now, however, most couples are getting married after they have already been out on their own for a while. Quite a few brides and grooms are already living together when they tie the knot and have already established a home together. This is a big reason why most couples now pay for the majority of the wedding expenses themselves. If your families would like to help with the financial aspect of your wedding, that's when you can look to tradition to help you decide who can pay for what.

None of these suggestions are set in stone rules, but rather a list of what was commonly expected in the past. Use this list as a guideline, but feel free to move things around and make it your own.

THE BRIDE'S SIDE

  • Wedding dress and accessories
  • Ceremony site, as well as all of the decorations and any music
  • Ceremony flowers for decoration and for the flower girl, and bridesmaids' bouquets
  • Reception site, decorations, and all reception services
  • Photographer
  • Invitations, announcements, and mailing cost
  • Transporation for the wedding party to the ceremony and reception sites.
  • Engagement party (The groom's family may also throw an engagement party, but the bride's family party should happen first.)
  • The bride alone pays for:
    • The groom's wedding ring
    • Wedding gift for the groom
    • Gifts for the bridesmaids
    • Her hair and makeup

THE GROOM'S SIDE

  • Groom's suit rental or purchase
  • Marriage license
  • Officiant fee
  • Men's boutonnieres and corsages for mothers and grandmothers
  • Bridal bouquet
  • Rehearsal dinner
  • Honeymoon
  • The groom alone pays for:
    • The bride's engagement and wedding rings
    • Wedding gift for the bride
    • Gifts for the groomsmen

THE WEDDING PARTY

  • Maid of Honor & Bridesmaids
    • Bridal shower
    • Bridal shower gift (if attending more than one, only one gift is necessary)
    • Bachelorette party
    • Bridesmaid gown and accessories
    • Their own travel and hotel expenses
  • Best Man & Groomsmen
    • Bachelor party
    • Suit rental or purchase
    • Their own travel and hotel expenses

Splitting the Costs
Anyone that pitches in for the cost of your wedding may expect to have some say in what you spend that money on. This can be a touchy subject, so make it clear before accepting any financial help from family that the wedding decisions are yours to make.

You can choose to follow tradition and use the list above, pay for the entire thing as a couple, split the cost 3 ways between you and each set of parents, or let family members offer to pay for specific things. For instance, a grandmother or aunt may want to give you a beautiful wedding dress from our South Florida bridal boutique as a gift, or a friend that owns a restaurant may want to offer catering services.

This is one of those many instances where your personal reality is more important than what was expected in the past. Take it from us at Angelus Bridal & Formals, if you plan a wedding in a way that makes you happy instead of trying to make everyone else happy, it's going to be the best day ever!

The only way to become the best wedding dress store in South Florida is to not only offer the most beautiful bridal gowns, but to do it with excellent, caring, and knowledgeable customer service. The consultants at Angelus Bridal do everything that they possibly can to make sure that you find the wedding dress of your dreams, and that you have an enjoyable experience while you do it. After all, this is a very important time in your life, and it deserves to be full of nothing but happy memories.

Hearing us say that we are the best may not mean much, but reading about the positive experiences that other customers have had in our Pompano Beach bridal salon may make you a believer. Here is what a few of the women that found their dream dresses in our store had to say about Angelus Bridal & Formals.

"I purchased my wedding gown yesterday. It was my second visit with Rhonda and I can't say enough about the amazing experience I had. She made it so FUN and she knows what she is doing when it comes to what looks best on you. She helped me pick out my dream dress and I am beyond happy. The quality and prices of their dresses are unbeatable as I did lots of research before starting my visits. I also met the owner Coco! Thank you Coco for the great service as well, it was so great meeting you both and I can't wait to be back in town for my alterations."
~Mylene Forget, Google review

"Rhonda was amazing! She made me feel beautiful in every dress I tried on! She was very knowledgeable. I had been to several places and tried on multiple dresses and Rhonda helped me find the one!"
~Nicole, WeddingWire review

"I went with my friend (the bride) to Angelus Bridal in early February 2017 and absolutely loved the level of service and care provided. Rhonda and Yoli were energetic, attentive, and so positive that it was infectious. They were so willing to go above and beyond for my friend who has special circumstances leading up to her wedding and I know she really appreciated that, as well. I highly recommend Angelus Bridal and the shopping experience I had there!"
~Katherine Hall, Google review

"Rhonda seriously has the best advice to give....look her up at this store, she instinctively knows what you will look best in. And she is sooooo much fun.....head and shoulders above any other store experience."
~Jaqueline, WeddingWire review

"Angelus Bridal was amazing! I was looking for a dress with very specific requirements, and their sales lady, Rhonda, was the only person who actually listened to my request. She went right to the point and gave me a selection of great dresses all along my wishes.
Ordering was very easy, and the dress arrived the day expected. They have always been very kind, friendly and lovely people! I will go back for any other special events that may come!
Thank you for making me a happy bride!
"

Off-the-Shoulder Wedding Dresses - A Trend That We Absolutely LOVE!

Trends in fashion change often, and even if one goes away, that trend seems to make its way back around again eventually. We especially see this in our South Florida weddings dresses. Every year one or two dress elements stand out and become the most sought after, yet the difference with wedding fashion is that there is always a thread of classic and traditional looks mixed in too. Right now, a trend that many brides are in love with (and so are we at Angelus Bridal & Formals) is the off-the-shoulder bridal gown.

Brides have been searching for off-the-shoulder wedding dresses for a while now, and from the looks of the runways, this fall that look is still going to be one of the most wanted. Along with this style, we also expect to be seeing a lot of women wearing tiered skirts and embellishments such as ruffles and feathers. For today, though, we are putting our focus on those irresistible shoulder-baring dresses.

A strapless gown is a classic wedding look that will always be around, but this year the off-the-shoulder style has taken over some of that popularity. It's kind of a "hint" of shoulders rather than showing them off completely. We think that is a very mysterious and elegant look. A strapless bridal gown can have the appearance of an off-the-shoulder dress simply by adding a bridal jacket or wrap on top.

With the help of an illusion neckline, you can boast the off-the shoulder look, but with the comfort of knowing that the shoulders will stay in place during the entire celebration. Finding an expert seamstress to alter the gown exactly to your body will also help with the proper fit of any dress.

Don'g forget about the bridesmaids! This off-the-shoulder fashion will look stunning on all of your ladies too. It's always looks nice when the bridesmaid fashions compliment the bride's gown, coordinating similar elements in each to make a uniform look.

As for accessories, the runways are predicting that brides will be wearing big, bold jewelry and headpieces. You can always go a little bigger with the accessories around your face when there is less dress around your neckline. Tiaras and large floral headpieces are also an excellent way to accessorize your wedding dress.

No matter what type of gown you choose at our wedding dress store in South Florida, if you fall in love with it and make the purchase on your first trip to our bridal boutique, we will give you 20% off of your veil and headpiece. When you come in for your shopping appointment at Angelus Bridal, just ask about our "Love at first sight pays" promotion.

With that deal, your bridal party gets a discount too! Bridesmaid dresses priced at $159.95 or more are $30 off, and bridesmaid gowns priced below $159.95 are 10% off. Not only will we help you find the most fabulous wedding fashions, we'll do it at an affordable price!

We have the traditional styles with full skirts in both bright colors and sweet pastels, plus contemporary silhouettes that look right at home at any quinceanera celebration.

#6 - The Incredible Flattering Me Bra
The most comfortable and flattering bra ever to be worn under a special occasion dress was created by our very own Coco Abadi, owner of Angelus Bridal & Formals! He listened to his customers over the years talk about how difficult it was to find a strapless bra that both worked and wasn't uncomfortable to wear. Always wanting to keep his customers happy, Coco patented the "Flattering Me Bra" which offers real support, natural cleavage, and most importantly, comfort.

#7 - Stunning Accessories
Once you find that perfect dress, it's time to choose all of the lovely extras that add your own personal style to the design you have chosen. We have a wonderful selection of jewelry to choose from. For the brides, we also carry the veils and headpieces that put the finishing touches on your wedding day look.

Which Wedding Dress Train Length Is Right For You?

There are lots of different elements that come together to make up the gorgeous wedding dresses that are available in our South Florida bridal boutique. The neckline, skirt, fabric, silhouette, and many other details completely change the way a gown looks on you. Today, Angelus Bridal & Formals is focusing on some of the different train lengths that are popular on our wedding dresses.

The train on a wedding dress is the long back portion of material that trails behind the bride. This particular feature is especially wonderful for making a stylish statement as you walk down the aisle to your future husband. Trains come in many different lengths, and the one that you choose will depend on the formality of the wedding, the venue, and your own personal style. Here are some of the most common train lengths.

Sweep Train
This can also be referred to as a Brush Train. It is one of the shorter trains, sometimes only barely sweeping the floor but trailing no more than 12 inches behind the dress. This length is good for less formal weddings and outdoor weddings where the bride does not want too much fabric dragging along the ground.

Court Train
Next in length we have the Court Train. It can trail anywhere between 1-3 feet behind the wedding dress.

Panel Train
This train is made from a panel of fabric that is attached to the back of the bridal gown, usually at the waist. Generally it is detachable, making it easy to have a beautiful train for the wedding ceremony and go without one at the reception. Since it can be removed, you can often customize the length.

Watteau Train
Offering a very elegant look, this type of wedding dress train is attached at the gown's shoulders and flows down the back. It usually falls loosely to the hem of the dress, but in some cases can be longer.

Chapel Train
A Chapel Train trails behind the gown anywhere between 3.5-4.5 feet and falls from the waist. It is a very traditional train length.

Cathedral Train
You can find both Semi-Cathedral, extending 4.5-5.5 feet behind the dress, and Cathedral, which trails 6.5-7.5 feet. This is generally worn for more formal weddings and makes a very dramatic statement. Once a train gets this long, you might consider having a train-bearer to help you down the aisle.

Monarch Train
This type of train can also be called a Royal Train, which makes sense, because this is the type of train you would expect to see at the wedding of a real live princess. It can be up to 12 feet long, and sometimes even longer!

There are lots of choices when it comes to the length of your wedding dress train, and there are also many lovely shorter bridal gowns available if you don't want to bother with a train at all. If your train is not detachable, make sure that someone at our South Florida wedding dress store shows you how to properly bustle it so that you aren't tripping over your train at the wedding reception. When you are ready to begin your own bridal gown search, give us a call at Angelus Bridal and we will help you figure out which of these train types is the best one for your wedding.

Take The Stress Out Of Wedding Planning

April is Stress Awareness Month. Last week our blog brought you "7 Wedding Dress Shopping Myths Debunked" to take some of the stress out of bridal gown shopping. This week, Angelus Bridal & Formals has a few Do's and Don'ts to help take some of the stress out of the wedding planning process.

DON'T procrastinate
One of the biggest stress inducers during wedding planning is running out of time and having to rush at the last minute. Start out with a timeline that lets you know when each task needs to be completed, and then stick to it as closely as possible. If procrastination is a problem for you, consider hiring a wedding coordinator to keep you on schedule.

DO stay organized
Keep all or your wedding planning information (guests lists, contact information, decorating ideas, favorite wedding dress styles, etc...) in one central location. This can be a notebook or a digital planner on your computer or mobile device. With everything in one designated place, you'll never have to search for what you need. Also, keep a notebook with you at all times to jot down any brilliant ideas you have while on the go.

DON'T say no to help
You may want to do it all yourself, but there's no reason that you have to. Delegate tasks that don't have to have your personal attention to family members or close friends that want to assist. If someone offers to help, find a job for them. That's just one more thing off of your list taken care of so you can move on to the next task.

DO stick to your budget
Overspending may not cause a lot of stress right now, but you know it will be coming in the future when the bills are due. Don't fall into the trap of buying cute little things here and there that you might be able to use at the wedding every time you see one. Decide what's most important about your wedding day to you and your fiance, and designate a set amount of funds to go toward those things. If it's not on your "most important" list, you can probably do without it.

DON'T hide your feelings
Keeping things bottled up only guarantees a big blow-up later on, and if that doesn't happen, you will just keep making yourself miserable by not letting people know how you truly feel. This is your big day, and if you don't like something about it, speak up. You can be honest without going all "bridezilla," and in the end you'll get what you really want and the stress or worrying about it will be off your shoulders.

DO take time off
All work and no play... will drive you crazy! Don't let the planning consume your life. Schedule date nights with your fiance where you reconnect and all wedding-related topics are put aside for a few hours. If you feel a big ball of stress sneaking up on you, go get a massage, or sit outside with a relaxing cup of tea and some calming music playing in the background. Once you've had time to calm down and regroup, you can head back to the planning with a clear head.

DON'T sweat the small stuff
If the place cards need to be computer printed instead of done with calligraphy by hand, your guests aren't going to mind and it won't ruin your wedding day. As a matter of fact, if there are no place cards at all, a pretty seating chart posted at the reception entrance will still get everyone to the correct table. Little extras like that are nice, but not necessarily important to making your wedding a successful event. Concentrate on the real important stuff, like the vows you will be saying to each other, and if the rest is stressing you out, let it go.

DO remember to enjoy it
This is one of the most special times in your life, so if at any point you're not enjoying it, change the way you're doing things! The wedding is all about the love you get to share for the rest of your lives. A happy occasion like that deserves to be fun throughout, not just at the end on the wedding day.

Hopefully those tips will help to relieve a lot of the stress that wedding planning can cause. When it comes to shopping for the best wedding dresses in South Florida, we can take a lot of stress out of that task for you!

Bridal gown shopping appointments at Angelus Bridal are scheduled so that you have our undivided attention while you search for the perfect dress. We will listen to your fashion desires, and then one of our talented consultants will guide you to a marvelous selection of gowns to choose from. When you're ready for that part of your wedding planning, give us a call at 954-943-7768 and we'll take care of the rest.

Our Wedding Dress Customers' Experiences (In Their Own Words)

When you visit our Angelus Bridal & Formals website, the first thing that you see at the top of the page (once you are able to tear your eyes away from those gorgeous bridal gowns) is a banner with the phrase, "Our Best Publicity is Our Last Customer!" We pride ourselves on being South Florida's most trusted bridal salon. Keeping a close eye on the feedback that customers leave for us online helps us to remain at the top of our game.

We enjoy providing excellent, personalized customer service to each of the lovely ladies that walk through our doors. These reviews let us know what we are doing right, and what we can make an effort to improve on. They are also excellent for letting future customers know what to expect when they shop with us. Take a look at what a few of our most recent brides had to say about their shopping appointments.

"As a bride planning her wedding about a year and 3 months ahead, I enjoyed my very first experience here at the store. At first I was hesitant because I went bridal dress shopping on my own, but when I entered, David (I believe) made me feel like it was okay to come and look at the dresses in the store. Of course I convinced myself that I could try dresses on. Within minutes I started perusing through the dresses when Rhonda came and found me. She gave me a big smile and asked if she could help me with my selections. She made me feel comfortable, especially since it was my first time doing this for myself. Of course I tried a two dresses on and it was eh, then Rhonda asked if she could select something that she believed was made for me. Within seconds she returned, She placed me in the mermaid style sleeveless dress in within moments I could not stop staring at myself. I was speechless. Rhonda knew exactly what brought out my personality with the va va voom I was looking for. She described that the dress made me look like I was transitioning from young woman to Woman. She did everything right, down to explaining everything about the dress to me and the process of payments. She did not pressure me into getting the dress but allowed me to feel truly special. I will be returning for my dress soon!"
~Ketlyne, Wedding Wire review

"It is safe to say that I am absolutely obsessed with my dress, and with Rhonda. She made my dress shopping experience comfortable, special, and memorable. Her honesty and expertise helped make my decision to "SAY YES TO THE DRESS" easy! Thank you for everything!"
~Jessica V., The Knot review

"This beautiful place has gorgeous gowns! Rhonda and I hit it off right away. She listened to me and really made me feel special. It was top rated customer service. I absolutely love my dress and every dress I put on I felt beautiful. You can tell everyone there works so closely, it's like family. My family and I were so well respected and I couldn't ask for a better way to tell my story of how I found my dress. Thank you so much."
~Tabitha Sclafani, Facebook review

"This store is amazing!!! Rhonda and her team were extremely helpful and took their time to help me as I tried on different dresses. This was the third bridal shop I visited and I was extremely impressed with the level of service and with the beauty of these dresses."
~Harley, Wedding Wire review

"I had a great experience at Angelus. They worked with my schedule. Every appointment was ALL about me! I love the size of the shop as well and it is also very organized and doesn't have an overwhelming amount of gowns. CAN'T wait to wear my dress soon!!!"
~Iris, WeddingWire review

"My mom and I loved our experience at Angelus bridal. The selection was broad and all of the staff there were kind, honest, helpful, and communicative. They made sure my dress and veil came in on time, and they have a great and inexpensive alterations store right next door. Highly recommended!"
~Kristen R., The Knot review

"The sweetest most helpful people to get you to the happiest day of your life. Thank you so much ladies!!"
~Samantha Lee Anderson, Facebook review
