Helpful Advice for a Wonderful Wedding Dress Fitting

Even when the most meticulous measurements are taken by an expert, it is rare that the wedding dress you ordered will fit your body perfectly. Every woman is built differently, so most likely at least a few alterations will be needed once your bridal gown arrives. Angelus Bridal & Formals has put together some helpful tips to make sure your wedding dress fitting appointment at our South Florida bridal salon goes as smoothly as possible.

Buy the size you NEED...
NOT  the size you hope to be on the wedding day. This tip pertains more to the wedding dress purchase rather than the fitting, but it's an important point to mention. Many brides think that if they order a bridal gown that is too small, it will encourage them to lose weight before the wedding. The problem is, if they don't lost that weight, then they've got a dress that doesn't fit! A talented seamstress can work magic, but it's much simpler to make a dress smaller than it is to try to make it bigger. Adding too much fabric can drastically change the original look of the dress.

It may help to remind you that no one will be seeing that size tag except for you, so it really doesn't matter what the number on it says. Ignore the number and pick a gown that looks and feels good. Also, if your body isn't necessarily the same size all over, buy to fit the larger part. Once again, it's easier to take part of the dress in than to let it out.

Don't procrastinate.
As soon as your wedding dress arrives at our wedding dress store in Pompano Beach, get your first fitting scheduled, even if it's a few weeks away. The most convenient times always book up first, so the earlier you book, the better chance you have of getting a time that fits into your schedule. You want the seamstress to have plenty of time to make your alterations without having to rush through it.

Always bring...
the shoes and undergarments that will be worn on the wedding day to every bridal gown fitting. The seamstress will be fashioning the adjustments to fit your body, and even the slightest change could make a huge difference. The size of the heel you have on affects where the hem will fall, and if you use a different bra than the one you had on at the fitting, the bodice of your wedding dress could end up too loose or too tight.

Move around in the gown.
Before any final alterations are made, move around in the gown to make sure it is comfortable. Walk, sit, even dance a little bit so that any problems with the fit can be addressed right away and you can be your most comfortable on the wedding day.

Bring a helper to the final fitting.
Wedding dresses often require a bit of assistance to get into and your seamstress will know the best ways to get the gown on you and adjusted correctly. Bring someone with you to the final fitting so that they can be instructed on how to help you get ready on the wedding day. Also have someone show your helper how to properly bustle the dress for the wedding reception. Knowing how to do this will save a lot of time and unnecessary stress.

Use a seamstress you trust.
Angelus Bridal can connect you with one of our talented seamstresses that have been altering bridal gowns for many years and know exactly how to do it right. If you don't want to take our word for it, it may help you to look at reviews from past brides that they have worked with. Once you know that this is a person you can trust, you'll be much more comfortable leaving the alteration decisions to the experts.

Our seamstresses know what works on each gown and what won't. You can give them your suggestions while knowing that they will be able to translate that into a wedding dress that fits as if it was designed specifically for your body.

After you have purchased your dream bridal gown at our bridal gown store in South Florida, we will be happy to point you in the direction of one of our talented seamstresses. Angelus Bridal is a one-stop bridal shop, so we'll not only help you find the perfect wedding dress, but we can also help you with many of the other decisions that need to be made for your wedding day.

On-site you can talk with an alteration specialist, photographer, cake designer, makeup artist, florist, and even find tuxedos for the men at the wedding. The experts at our salon are here to help you have the best wedding day ever!

10 Elements That Make A Wedding Dress Stand Out

A wedding dress is technically a special occasion gown, but one that is designed exquisitely for one of the most special occasions in your life. When you visit our bridal salon in South Florida, you will see a multitude of beautiful bridal gowns, and each one will have a particular element that catches your eye.

Actually, many have more than just one design feature that makes it stand apart from the rest. The elements that a bride gravitates toward is different for every woman depending on her own personal style. There are many more than 10 that we love here at Angelus Bridal & Formals, but this short list is a good place to start.

Illusion Sleeves
This element gives you the elegance of a long sleeve in a very dreamy way. They give the illusion that you and the dress are one, like the fabric is a part of your skin.

Ruffles
A skirt full of big, bouncy ruffles is a wonderful way to add a whimsical flair to your wedding day look. This element is especially fun once you get it out on the dance floor.

Lace
Romantic, elegant, and timeless... lace is an accent that women will continue loving to wear until the end of time. Whether the lace is covering the entire dress or just a section of the skirt or bodice, it adds something special.

Illusion Backs
Just like the illusion sleeves we mentioned earlier, this element brings the magical look to the back of your bridal gown. It seems as if the dress was created with you already inside it once you slip it on.

Backless Dresses
Lots of fabric and details on the front of your wedding dress gives you the freedom to show more skin in the back for an exquisite contrast. A bit daring, but beautifully elegant.

Corset Backs
This timeless look will never go out of style. There is something incredibly feminine and romantic about this element. It may take a while longer to get into the dress, but the final look will definitely be worth it.

Trains
If you want to add some dramatic beauty to your walk down the aisle, a fabulous train on the back of your bridal gown can do just that.

Buttons
Another classic look that will never go out of style is a row of gorgeous buttons all the way down the back of the dress. The very best part about this style in modern-day fashion is that the buttons are most often decorative. You don't actually have to fasten each one getting in and out of the dress, but it will look like you did!

Bridal Belts
A gorgeous gown can be elevated to another level of exquisiteness with the simple addition of a bridal belt or sash. Sometimes you can find a dress that already has one incorporated into the design, but if not, we have a wonderful selection for you to choose from.

Mix & Match Separates
This is for the bride that can't quite find the perfect gown that she loves both the top and the bottom of. Angelus Bridal carries a wide selection of mix & match wedding dress skirts and tops that come together to make a look that is unique to every pairing.

These 10 fashion elements are only the beginning. Thanks to incredible designers, every single bridal gown in our Pompano Beach wedding dress store has something on it that makes it stand out to the bride it was meant for. Make an appointment soon at Angelus Bridal & Formals to come in and discover which elements capture your attention, and then try them on. You dream wedding dress is waiting for you to find it!

7 Bridal Beauty Tips for Fabulous Fingernails and Smooth Hands

Even though all eyes will be on your beautiful wedding dress throughout the wedding day, a lot of your guests will also want to get a good look at the beautiful new ring you have on your finger. For that reason, Angelus Bridal & Formals has a few tips to make sure your wedding day hands are as gorgeous as the rest of you.

Don't Put It Off
Even if your wedding is a year away, there's no time like the present to get into a good routine for taking care of your hands and nails. Once it becomes a habit, this is a routine that you can benefit from for the rest of your life. It may take a couple of months to get your desired nail shape. Once you have it, you'll want to make sure those nails are strong and healthy enough to hold that shape.

Moisturize Often
Use hand lotion that contains SPF daily and exfoliate regularly to keep your skin soft and smooth. Give those cuticles some extra-special attention too. It may take months to get them where they need to be. This is where your nails grow from, and the healthier your cuticle is, the better chance you have for a healthy nail. After you shower and the cuticles are still soft, gently push them back, and use a conditioner on them nightly before you go to bed. Never cut them. If there is the risk of a hangnail, it's best to use a cuticle remover or let a professional take care of it.

File Gently
Cut your nails slightly longer than your desired length so that they won't be too short when you file them. Always file in one direction, straight across the nail rather than back and forth. You can file lightly around the edges to clean up any snags or rough spots. Once a month it's okay to gently buff them for a smooth, shiny finish, but any more than that could cause weakening of the nail.

Polish Wisely
Always apply a base coat before putting on nail polish. This is how you keep your nails from staining. When you are ready to take the polish off, only use removers that are non-acetone or soy-based. Acetone removers are meant to be used to take off acrylic nails and gels. If you need to have that type of nail taken off, let a pro do it. Just make sure you don't have that done too close to the wedding day.

Take Your Vitamins
A daily dose of healthy vitamins and minerals is important to your overall health, which includes your hands and nails. Vitamin B and biotin capsules are especially great for your nails. They allow your body to better metabolize fats, proteins, and amino acids which boost your nail's hardness, elasticity, and sheen.

Cover Them Up
If you can't talk your fiance into handling all of the household chores involving cleaners and chemicals, make sure that you wear gloves to protect all of that hard work you've been putting into the beauty of your hands and nails. If you are in a cold climate, gloves are great for helping to keep hands from chapping and drying out, along with a good moisturizing routine.

Leave the Final Look to a Pro
Your wedding day manicure should be scheduled a few days before the big event. A manicurist knows all the best tricks and tips to make the hand that will be wearing that wedding ring look its absolute best. Make sure that you have a bottle of the correct shade of polish to take home with you for any last minute touch-ups that may be needed.

Following a regular healthy routine for a few months before the wedding should result in breathtaking hands and nails for showing off your brand new ring. While you're at it, get your husband-to-be to begin his own skin and nail routine. His hands will be highlighted in some of your wedding photos, plus it's always fun to partner with someone when you start something new. Complete the look by slipping into an exquisite wedding dress from our South Florida bridal salon, and no one will be able to take their eyes off of you!

Helpful Tips For Choosing Your Bridal Bouquet

One wedding dress accessory that you will need to decide on is a beautiful bouquet to complement that gorgeous gown you found at our South Florida bridal salon. It will need to look good with the dress you have chosen without taking attention away from your wedding day fashion. Here are a few tips from Angelus Bridal to help you pick out the perfect bridal bouquet.

Show the florist your dress.
You may not want the groom to see the bridal gown before the wedding day, but it's perfectly okay to show it to your florist. As a matter of fact, it's encouraged. Being able to see the wedding dress will help your florist to suggest bouquet designs that complement the overall look. If you are trying to match the dress color, either with blooms or accents on the bouquet, provide the florist with a swatch from the dress so that they can match the shade as closely as possible.

Decide on size and shape.
If the wedding dress that you fell in love with has a simple front and the train is the most impressive feature, then you may want to dress up the front with a more extravagant bouquet. On the other hand, a bridal gown that features a lot of exquisite details to focus on will work better with a small, simple bouquet. The key is for the two elements to work together, not against each other. As a rule of thumb, the bridal bouquet should be smaller than your waist so that it accentuates your natural shape.

Choose seasonal flowers.
Find out which flowers will be in season at the time of your wedding before getting your heart set on a particular bloom. There are lots of gorgeous flowers to pick from every season, so it's best to begin your search with the ones that are easiest to get for your wedding's time of year. Your florist may be able to order out-of-season flowers, but this option can get extremely pricey.

Be comfortable.
You won't have your bouquet in your hands all day long, but most likely for a good portion of it. Choose a design that is not awkward to hold. When you head down the aisle, hold the bouquet below your hip and slightly away from your dress. This allows your shoulders to remain relaxed and open, which improves your posture and allows for very natural looking photographs. Instruct your bridesmaids to hold their flowers the same way.

Personalize it.
The bridal bouquet is a perfect place to add your own personal touches. It may be in the flowers that you choose, picking ones that invoke happy memories from your past like the flowers that grew in your grandmother's yard when you were young, or the kind your groom brought to you on your first date. It's a wonderful place to add a pop of color to your wedding day look, either with the flowers or with ribbon accents added to it. Family heirloom brooches look beautiful incorporated into a bridal bouquet. If there are family members that are no longer with you, you can tie a small picture of them with a pretty ribbon into your flowers so they can walk down the aisle with you.

The first step is to search through the most beautiful wedding dresses in South Florida at our store to find your dream bridal gown. Our talented consultants can help you with that, and once it's done, you can move on to picking out all of the other lovely accessories, including the bouquet, to complete your gorgeous wedding day look. Angelus Bridal & Formals can get you started on your wedding fashion journey, plus offer advice on all that goes with it to turn you into an amazing bride.

Off-the-Shoulder Wedding Dresses - A Trend That We Absolutely LOVE!

Trends in fashion change often, and even if one goes away, that trend seems to make its way back around again eventually. We especially see this in our South Florida weddings dresses. Every year one or two dress elements stand out and become the most sought after, yet the difference with wedding fashion is that there is always a thread of classic and traditional looks mixed in too. Right now, a trend that many brides are in love with (and so are we at Angelus Bridal & Formals) is the off-the-shoulder bridal gown.

Brides have been searching for off-the-shoulder wedding dresses for a while now, and from the looks of the runways, this fall that look is still going to be one of the most wanted. Along with this style, we also expect to be seeing a lot of women wearing tiered skirts and embellishments such as ruffles and feathers. For today, though, we are putting our focus on those irresistible shoulder-baring dresses.

A strapless gown is a classic wedding look that will always be around, but this year the off-the-shoulder style has taken over some of that popularity. It's kind of a "hint" of shoulders rather than showing them off completely. We think that is a very mysterious and elegant look. A strapless bridal gown can have the appearance of an off-the-shoulder dress simply by adding a bridal jacket or wrap on top.

With the help of an illusion neckline, you can boast the off-the shoulder look, but with the comfort of knowing that the shoulders will stay in place during the entire celebration. Finding an expert seamstress to alter the gown exactly to your body will also help with the proper fit of any dress.

Don'g forget about the bridesmaids! This off-the-shoulder fashion will look stunning on all of your ladies too. It's always looks nice when the bridesmaid fashions compliment the bride's gown, coordinating similar elements in each to make a uniform look.

As for accessories, the runways are predicting that brides will be wearing big, bold jewelry and headpieces. You can always go a little bigger with the accessories around your face when there is less dress around your neckline. Tiaras and large floral headpieces are also an excellent way to accessorize your wedding dress.

No matter what type of gown you choose at our wedding dress store in South Florida, if you fall in love with it and make the purchase on your first trip to our bridal boutique, we will give you 20% off of your veil and headpiece. When you come in for your shopping appointment at Angelus Bridal, just ask about our "Love at first sight pays" promotion.

With that deal, your bridal party gets a discount too! Bridesmaid dresses priced at $159.95 or more are $30 off, and bridesmaid gowns priced below $159.95 are 10% off. Not only will we help you find the most fabulous wedding fashions, we'll do it at an affordable price!

"I cannot say enough great things about this place. Rhonda is BEYOND helpful. She helped me find a dress ONE day before I was getting married, literally 24 hours before I was getting married, and made sure she could accommodate everything I was looking for. She was knowledgeable, compassionate, and made me VERY excited about what I was doing. I wish I could give her more than 5 stars in all of those categories, she makes you feel like you are the only person in the entire place. She made the entire experience one to never forget. It is hard to find the exceptional customer service that Rhonda provided to us on Thursday February 2, 2017. Incredible experience, she made my special day everything I could have hoped for in LESS than 24 hours. How amazing. Thanks again Rhonda!!!"
~Brittany, Wedding Wire review

"Such a friendly store!!! The owner was so nice and accommodating. They have so many wonderful dresses to choose from. Large selection. One of the best in South Florida and totally affordable. They also do great inexpensive alterations. Love the family feel to this place.
Highly recommend putting them on your list for the search for your perfect wedding dress.
"
~Talisha M, Yelp review

"Rhonda has seriously the best advice to give....look her up at this store she instinctively knows what you will look best in. And she is sooooo much fun.....head and shoulders above any other store experience."
~Jaqueline, Wedding Wire review

"I had such an amazing experience here! Came shopping with my MOH and mother. The owner and his wife are there and have the cutest personalities. My bridal consultant was perfection: listened to what I wanted, helped me narrow down my style, and helped me find THE ONE! The pricing on their dresses is way less expensive than going down to Miracle Mile in Miami and a much more enjoyable experience. I would HIGHLY recommend this to anybody for wedding dress shopping."

~Shana R, Yelp review

Selecting the Perfect Bouquet to Complement Your Dress!

The hard part is over - you've found the perfect wedding dress at Angelus Bridal. Now you need to think about ideas for a bouquet that will complement the dress and tie in with your wedding theme. The best wedding dress store in Pompano Beach, FL has some suggestions on different styles to consider when selecting a bouquet that will pair beautifully with your gown.

Here are some of the different types of bouquet styles:

Arm Sheath Bouquet

This style is designed to rest on the bride's forearm. Traditionally, this style includes long-stemmed flowers, such as irises, sunflowers, or calla lilies. This style of bouquet is great for many reasons. They can be kept fresh in a vase prior to the ceremony and are generally budget-friendly because it doesn't require a large number of flowers. These bouquets look great with a streamlined or simple A-line wedding dresses.

Cascade Bouquet

This bouquet is designed with an abundance of overflowing flowers cascading down in a loose style. The cascade bouquet is the perfect statement accessory that can add liveliness to simple elegant gowns. This is a great solution for including exotic flowers into your florals. Traditionally, this choice is paired with long-length, formal dresses, such as the ballgown style.

Composite Bouquet

This bouquet is constructed of hundreds of petals wired together to look like one enormous flower. It's simplistic in design, but graceful and elegant. This style is dramatic and distinctive and works well with silk flowers for those who wish to preserve their bouquet for years to come. The Composite bouquet looks best with an elegant and simple dress, and is the perfect choice for a vintage style.

Biedermeier Bouquet

The Biedermeier bouquet consists of a dense cluster of blooms carefully arranged in circular patterns of different colored flowers. Each of these rings contain a single type of flower. The great thing about this style is that due to the tight structure in which they are created, they're generally pretty resilient bouquets and less likely to lose shape. This is a good choice for formal ceremonies, and make for easy photography since they look great from any angle.

Posy Bouquet

The Posy bouquet is composed of a bunch of flowers arranged to create a slightly domed shape. This is a great choice if you don't want your dress and flowers to compete against each other. It can be scaled down in size to create complementary bridesmaid's bouquets, making it a very versatile choice. The Posy bouquet is also less fragile than other styles of bouquets so it's easier to set down without risking ruining it. This choice pairs well with extravagant dresses due to the simplicity of the bouquet.

With this helpful list from South Florida's most trusted bridal salon, you'll be on your way to selecting the perfect bouquet to complement your dream wedding dress. Weddings aren’t just regular dates. They are special and you want to make sure that every second you spend on getting everything for that date is done right. If you haven't yet picked out your dress, or your bridal party's attire, you're in good hands with the best bridal consultants in Florida. Our bridal consultants are trained to listen to you and understand your needs.

6 Helpful Tips For Picking Out Your Flower Girl's Dress!

A very special role in your wedding ceremony is that of the flower girl. Picture yourself making that grand entrance while guests and your future husband await the first look of the blushing bride, floating gracefully over a trail of flower petals leading the way to happily ever after. Angelus Bridal & Formals knows that the flower girl helps to make your walk down the aisle magical, therefore, her dress is as equally important as her role on your big day.

A lot of times, the flower girl is dressed in a similar version of the bride’s dress, but any dress that ties into the look of the wedding will be just as sweet. Here are some helpful tips for selecting the perfect dress for your beautiful flower girl:
#1 - Take notes on your flower girl’s age, height, physical appearance, and shoe size. This is important because you do not want to select a dress that is too small, too large, uncomfortable, or unbecoming for the occasion.

#2 - Keep the season in mind when you’re selecting her dress. You do not want her to be uncomfortable during your ceremony, reception and pictures. If your wedding is planned during the summer, consider a lighter, breathable fabric for her dress so she doesn’t get too hot. If planned during a colder season, make sure she is dressed appropriately so she doesn’t get too cold.

#3 - Select a dress that is easy for your flower girl to walk in without tripping or getting caught up in the fabric.

#4 - Pick a dress that is made of durable material to avoid tearing, staining, or wrinkling. Chances are, your flower girl will run around in her dress the entire day. You want it to stand up to the job.

#5 - Decide whether you want to go more traditional and have her dressed similar to you, or if you’d rather her stand out in a dress iof a different color within your wedding theme. If you choose to go with the mini-bride look, keep in mind that you don’t want her to be so bridal that it takes away from the grandeur of your dress.

#6 - Avoid extreme designs and severe color or pattern contrasts. You don’t want the dress to clash so much in style, color, or design that it becomes distracting and takes away from the cohesive look of the wedding.

Although these tips for choosing the perfect flower girl dress can’t help you make the final decision, they can help narrow down your options and make selecting the right one much easier. When it comes to finding the perfect wedding fashions for the rest of your bridal party, our South Florida bridal salon is here to make that happen! When you are ready to begin shopping, give Angelus Bridal & Formals a call at 954-943-7768 and we'll take care of you.
