#1 - Brides Only Wear White
The truth is: Brides should only wear what makes them happiest! If you don't like the way you look in white, there are many flattering shades, such as ivory and champagne, that work equally as well, and most guests won't be able to tell the difference. It is also perfectly acceptable to wear a color further away from white, like a blush pink or even something brighter and bolder, or possibly a white gown gown with colorful decorations on it. Most women vow to lose weight before their wedding day, but gowns have to be ordered at least 6 months in advance. Some believe that if they order a size too small, it will be good incentive to diet. This is a dangerous game, because if that doesn't happen, it's very difficult and expensive to try to make a dress bigger. You should buy your wedding dress for the size that you are now, and if you do lose that weight, it's a lot easier for a seamstress to take it in for the perfect fit.
#6 - You Need A Big Shopping Entourage
In the movies, brides seem to bring everyone that they know to a wedding dress shopping appointment. In reality, too many opinions can make the final decision a lot harder than it has to be. You don't need a lot of people making you question yourself when you get that "I love this dress" feeling. Only invite friends and family that have your best interests in mind and know your personal style well. You need support, not drama.
#7 - It's Cheaper To Buy Online
Yes, you may be able to find gowns online at unbelievable prices, but the problem is, prices too low generally mean that the deal really is too good to be true. There are some authorized wedding vendors online that you can trust, but if the prices are extremely low it's usually a warning sign for a knockoff dress. The gown that shows up in the mail may not look anything like the picture that you ordered from, the material will be of inferior quality, and the dress may fall apart before you even get down the aisle.
