Thanksgiving Weekend Sale At Angelus Bridal!

Instead of Black Friday, our South Florida wedding dress store is holding a Thanksgiving Weekend Sale. 2 days instead of 1... Black Saturday & Black Sunday! Even though all of the gowns at Angelus Bridal & Formals are affordable every day, this weekend we are clearing some space and offering our already low prices at an even bigger discount!

75% Off Select Wedding Dresses!
Angelus Bridal has a large section of clearance bridal gowns at our Pompano Beach bridal shop. These dresses are every bit as beautiful and fashionable as the other dresses in our store, but as we get new arrivals, room has to be made somewhere. Usually, our clearance bridal gowns are sold at 50% off of the regular price, but for this Thanksgiving Weekend Sale, we're knocking them down to 50%-off of the 50%-off price!

Yes, you read that right. All of our clearance wedding dresses will be sold at 75%-off of the original price! If you have been struggling with stretching your wedding planning budget, then this sale could free up a lot of extra money to be used on another area of your wedding.

Just imagine the fabulous shoes and accessories that you can afford to go with your bridal gown with all of that money you'll be saving! Some of the clearance gowns are already marked as low as $149.95, meaning that particular dress would only cost you $75 during this incredible sale.

Lots of Gowns to Choose From
We currently have more than 300 wedding gowns in our clearance section. A few of them are featured in this blog, there are more on our website, and there are even more than that waiting right here in our bridal salon for you to try on. We carry many sizes, from size 4 to size 30. You will also find a wide variety of styles to choose from.

All of the wedding dresses are sold from stock, as is, meaning if you fall in love with "the dress" during this sale, you can take it home with you that day. No waiting months for it to be ordered. It's yours right away. Also, if this is your first shopping trip to our South Florida bridal boutique, you can take advantage of our "Love At First Sight" promotion.

Love At First Sight "Pays"
If you are a bride that is lucky enough to find your perfect bridal gown on your first visit to our store and buy it that day, we will make that experience even more rewarding by offering you some very special discounts! You will receive 20% off of your veil and headpiece. In addition to that, we will also offer your bridesmaids $30 off of any bridesmaid dress that costs $159.95 or more. If the dress costs less than that, they will still get a 10% discount.

A Chance to Win $500!
The Knot is offering a very special chance to a lucky couple to win $500. All you have to do is leave a review for Angelus Bridal & Formals before November 30, 2016, and you are automatically entered. For every additional wedding vendor that you review on The Knot, you will receive another entry. The more you write, the more chances you have to win!

Keep Your Wedding Party & Guests Warm At A Winter Wedding

As temperatures begin to drop in most areas of the country, brides planning late fall and winter weddings need to think about keeping their guests warm and toasty. Angelus Bridal & Formals has a few ideas for them, as well as for you and your wedding party.

It's time to move indoors.
If you are getting married in an area where it's much too cold to be outside, this one's a no-brainer. On the other hand, if the weather where you are isn't unbearable, consider a large tent for an outdoor wedding. There are many wonderful options that feature large windows, allowing your guests to enjoy a scenic view, and the sides can always be rolled up if you end up having an unseasonably warm day.

If it is cold, a few space heaters will keep that tent comfortably warm for your guests. A venue that has a fire pit may allow everyone the chance to get outside and still stay toasty. A great option for weddings in a nice, heated building is to look for a venue with a gorgeous fireplace. It will help to bring about the cozy feeling of the season.

Warm their taste buds.
This is where a creative caterer can really help you out. Start the meal with a nice, warm soup instead of salad. Rather than just serving food that is heated up, maybe throw in a few spicy flavor options.

Hot drinks are an excellent addition to a cold-weather reception. Choose an Irish coffee or other hot beverage for one of your signature drinks. You can also set up a DIY bar for your guests to add fun mix-ins to apple cider, hot chocolate, or coffee.

Choose cozy favors.
Favors are a wonderful place to pull seasonal items into your wedding decor. Adorable gloves or mittens will be a very useful favor for your guests in the coming months, and every time they wear them they will think of you! It can also be nice to have a basket of fleece throws or shawls available for anyone to use that gets a bit chilly. You could even make up some cute packages of coffee beans or cocoa for them to enjoy when they get home.

Don't forget your wedding party.
While your guests can change their minds about what they will wear to your wedding depending on the weather that day, you and your wedding party will need to have your clothing picked out months before the day arrives. Choosing gowns made of a heavier fabric are good for keeping away the cold. You can also add accessories, like a matching bolero jacket, cape, or shawl. There are many elegant options available to you in our South Florida bridal salon.

Late fall and winter are wonderful times to plan a wedding. Once you've picked a date, make an appointment at Angelus Bridal to begin the search for the perfect wedding day fashions. No matter what season that you choose to get married in, we will be able to find something that fits it beautifully for everyone in your wedding party.

Your Wedding Fashion Checklist

Once you begin wedding planning, there are plenty of checklists available to make sure that you take care of the numerous tasks that go into creating a memorable wedding day. Often, "order your bridal gown" is as far as the basic lists go, but there are more steps involved in putting together your wedding day fashion than that. Angelus Bridal & Formals wants to make sure that you have everything you need to look your beautiful best on your very special day, and this checklist should help.

The Wedding Dress
You need to begin your bridal gown search as soon as possible after your engagement. It may take a while to find exactly what you are looking for, and to avoid rushing closer to the wedding day, you will want to have your dress ordered no later than 6 months before the wedding date, preferably 8 months prior. This allows for shipping time and necessary alterations after it arrives, plus it gives you the time needed to find the other fashion items listed in this blog.

  • Research Styles
    • Start your bridal gown search by daydreaming a little bit. Browse magazines and look online to get an idea of what styles you are most drawn to. This will give you a good place to start when you begin trying on dresses.
  • Research Special Events
    • Keep an eye on your favorite bridal salons and be aware of when they will be having trunk shows and sample sales. This is a wonderful way to find your dream dress at a great price. Be aware of other specials too. Our South Florida bridal salon offers every bride a chance to receive discounts on her bridal veil and headpiece, as well as discounts for her bridesmaids' dresses, with our "Love At First Sight" special. When you purchase your wedding dress on your first visit to our store, all of these discounts will be opened up to you.
  • Make Appointments
    • Some stores accept walk-ins, but these can't promise you the one-on-one, personalized attention that you will get when you have a scheduled appointment to shop for bridal gowns. Angelus Bridal's consultants always give our brides their complete, uninterrupted attention so that together you can find the perfect dress for your special day.

Lingerie
The items that you wear underneath that beautiful bridal gown are very important. These will assure that the dress looks the way it was meant to once you put it on.
  • Bra
    • The style of your wedding dress will dictate what type of bra that you need to wear with it. The owner of Angelus Bridal, Coco Abadi, saw the need for a bra that not only flattered a woman's shape, but was also comfortable to wear. He solved this problem by creating the "Flattering me Bra." It offers real support, natural cleavage, and comfort. This may be the perfect bra to wear with the dress you choose, and you can try it on with your gown at our store.
  • Underwear
    • This probably goes without saying, but when you have a lot of tasks on your mind, simple things can slip by unless they are on your checklist. It's generally best to have nude colored underwear to wear under your gown, or if it will not show through the fabric, pick out a pair especially for that day. It can be a cute place to secretly add your "something blue."
  • Garter
    • If you will be taking part in the tradition of the garter toss at your wedding reception, you will want to have a gorgeous garter for the groom to take off of you. If you don't want to part with it, buy a second for the groom to toss so that you can keep your original one.
  • Other Undergarments
    • For body-fitting gowns, you may want to purchase a bodyshaper to keep everything smooth and in place. On the other hand, if you have a big ball gown, you may need to purchase an extra petticoat to bring it to the fullness you desire. Pick a slip that adds to the dress's beauty.

Accessories
The accessories that you add to your wedding day ensemble are what shape the look into one that is truly yours. They are an excellent way to bring your personal style to a designer's gown.
  • Veil & Headpiece
    • If you will be wearing a veil on your wedding day, you will first want to decide on length, then decide if you want to wear it during the reception or take it off. Any headpiece chosen will need to work with the veil you choose, and look beautiful alone if you will be removing that veil.
  • Hair Accessories
    • For up-dos, think about if you will want to have special hair accessories that will show, or if you prefer more subtle things that will not compete with a headpiece you will be wearing. Make sure that you make this decision early enough so that you can take the hair accessories to your beautician for the trial run of your hairstyle.
  • Jewelry
    • Use your wedding dress details to help you decide on the jewelry. It is usually best to not mix metals, and strive to find pieces that work well with the beading, lace, or other details present on your gown.
  • Shoes
    • Style is important here, especially if your wedding dress allows the shoes to be seen easily, but comfort is even more important. Make sure you choose a heel that is not more than you are used to walking in, and try to find a pair that you can wear all day and night long. Just in case, have a pair of flats to step into if your feet do need a break.
  • Handbag
    • While you most likely will not be carrying a purse with you the entire day, it is wise to have a small handbag to hold essentials (lipstick, cell phone, etc...) that you may need to have quick access to.
  • Something Old, New, Borrowed, & Blue
    • Don't forget to think about these good luck items ahead of time if you choose to participate in this fun wedding tradition.

Other Bridal Fashions
Remember that you will be attending lots of pre-parties to celebrate your upcoming wedding, so you will want to have special clothing to wear to each of those. The following fashions will be needed for the wedding weekend.
  • Rehearsal Attire
    • You are the star of the evening tonight (along with your soon-to-be-husband, of course.) The special clothing that you will wear to the rehearsal dinner is worth some detailed thought.
  • Honeymoon Clothing
    • If you will be leaving for the honeymoon right away, remember to plan for the clothes you will need to have packed. Try to have it all gathered before the wedding weekend so that you don't have to rush to do it after the wedding. You are going to be worn out after that epic celebration, so the less work you leave for yourself after, the better.
  • "Getaway" Outfit
    • This is for the bride that wants to make a quick-change before hopping into the car to leave the reception. It's not done as often as it used to be, but if you like making wardrobe changes or will be heading straight to the airport from the wedding, then this is for you.

There is a lot that goes into forming your wedding looks, but don't think of it as something to add to your planning stress. Have fun with it! The consultants at our bridal store in South Florida are thrilled to offer their expertise on this subject. It may sound like a lot to get together, but once you find that dream wedding dress, the rest of the pieces will begin to fall into place. Angelus Bridal & Formals is here to make sure that you look and feel like your beautiful self for your very special day.

5 Fashionable Ways To Say Thank You To Your Wedding Party

If you're not already thinking ahead to December holidays, then you've most likely got Thanksgiving on your mind. This holiday is a wonderful reminder that we should be thankful for the things we have, and to show that thanks to the people that deserve it. Today, Angelus Bridal & Formals has come up with a few fashionable ways to thank your wedding party for being a part of your special day.

Jewelry
This gift can perform double-duty if you give away a piece of jewelry that will also be worn at the wedding. Our South Florida bridal salon offers some beautiful jewelry options. Think about adding a special, personalized touch to what you choose, like having it engraved with their initials. There are lots of choices for the ladies: necklaces, earrings, rings, bracelets, hair accessories...
Don't forget about the fellas though. A special tie clip or tie pin, or even an engraved watch are nice pieces of jewelry to give a gentlman.

Bags
There are lots of different kinds of bags that you can gift a person, and these are always useful well beyond the wedding day. A pretty purse in your wedding color, or a personalized tote bag filled with goodies is wonderful for your bridesmaids. A makeup bag full of the makeup to be worn on the wedding day is a lovely gift too. The guys might appreciate a nice, new wallet, or even a dopp kit filled with toiletries to make them look their best for all those wedding day photos.

A Spa Day
You can spend the entire day with your girls getting relaxed and beautiful for the big day. Think mani-pedis, facials, massages, and the whole works. It would also be nice to get together after the wedding and spend this type of day together. Instead of going to a spa, you could also buy special robes for all the girls to get ready for the wedding in together, and maybe a small bag of spa-like goodies. If your groomsmen aren't into the spa thing, maybe you could all meet for an old-fashioned hot shave before the wedding. They may be surprised at how much they love it!

Fragrance
You have a couple of choices here. First, you can pick up each person's favorite perfume or cologne to gift them. The other thing you can do is to pick one scent for all the bridesmaids to wear and one for all the groomsmen. Then, every time they put it on after your wedding, they'll be reminded of the amazing celebration.

Something Just For Fun
A few fashion items can make for some great photo opportunities at the wedding. If it's an outdoor ceremony, matching sunglasses for everyone can look very cool. Fun socks for all the men is adorable and a witty surprise when you get a peek of them. You can give everyone special "comfy shoes" for dancing the night away. If there will be a special "wedding party only" toast, monogrammed flasks are useful. Use your imagination, and if your group has a private joke among them, pull inspiration from that!

Your wedding party is made up of people that you love dearly, and they wouldn't be there unless they felt the same way about you. Making sure that they know how much you appreciate them is important. You can also show them how special they are by bringing them to our bridal boutique in South Florida for bridesmaid gowns and tuxedo rentals. Angelus Bridal will make sure that all of your wedding fashions are perfect, and you'll be very thankful you left them up to us.

Our Gorgeous Mix & Match Wedding Dress Separates

We have heard so many brides at our South Florida bridal salon tell us that they love the top of the wedding dress, but the skirt isn't quite right, and vice versa. Well, we now have a brilliant solution to this problem - our mix & match bridal gowns! Angelus Bridal & Formals is thrilled to be able to offer all of our wonderful brides these customizable looks from Allure Bridal.

Create a Unique Look
Buying the top half of your wedding dress separately from the bottom half allows you to pick and choose from a variety of designs that can result in a style that no other bride has. Pair this with your personalized choice of bridal accessories, and you have wedding fashion that is unique to you and completely all your own.

Get a Better Fit
There are lots of different body types and shapes in this world. One girl will have much different measurements than the next, and these are not always proportioned in a way that fits the general sizes that are produced. Buying mix & match pieces for your bridal gown allows you to find a bottom and top that each fit that section of your body well, meaning fewer alterations may be needed.

Make a Quick Change
Lots of brides like to wear one look for the ceremony, then switch it up with something totally different for the reception. Mix & match wedding dresses make this easy! Changing can be a lot simpler when you are only switching out a top or bottom rather than changing into an entirely new dress. Plus, you only have to buy 1 top and 2 bottoms, or vice versa, rather than two completely different gowns.

Experience Love At First Sight
It's not difficult to completely fall in love with your dream wedding dress the second you see yourself in it. When this happens to you at Angelus Bridal on your first visit, it could mean big discounts for you and your bridesmaids! Any bride that says "YES" to her dress and purchases it on her first visit to our Pompano Beach wedding dress store will be given 20% off of the purchase of veils and headpieces.

In addition to that, your bridesmaids will benefit too. As an added bonus to taking advantage of this special, your girls will be automatically eligible for $30 off of each new bridesmaid gown purchased for your wedding on gowns over $160, or 10% off of dresses priced below $159.95.

So what are you waiting for? Your perfect gown may be here at our South Florida bridal boutique among the wide array of styles, sizes, and shapes we carry. Call for an appointment and let us help you find that dream wedding dress.

Tips For Handling The Toasts At Your Wedding

Once the "I do's" are done and the reception has started, that's when the toasts generally begin. There are a few people that should be heard from and some important things that need to be said. This can cause some awkward moments if you don't have a plan, so Angelus Bridal & Formals put together a few tips so everything can go as smoothly as possible.

BRIDE & GROOM TOASTS
It is important to thank all of your guests for joining you on this very special day. Plan a point during the reception when you and your groom can do this. Here are a few tips to keep in mind.

  • Think ahead: It is perfectly okay to speak from the heart with whatever comes to mind in the moment, but it's wise to have an idea of what you will say ahead of time. Think about the important things you don't want to forget to mention, and come up with a good closing line.
  • Keep it short & sweet: Even if there is a lot that you want to say, any speech longer than 3-5 minutes may lose your audience's attention.
  • Speak clearly: Don't talk too quickly, and make sure that you speak loud enough so that everyone can hear you.

WEDDING PARTY TOASTS
Traditionally, there are certain people that are expected to say a few words in honor of the bride & groom. You will want to give them a few guidelines so that the toasts don't get embarrassing or run too long.

  • Choose who will toast: It is acceptable for you to pick and choose who you will allow to give a toast at your wedding. This way you can monitor how many take place and how long they will last. Ask first, and don't force anyone to speak that is not comfortable doing so. Generally, toasts are expected from the best man, the maid/matron of honor, and the couple's parents.
  • Give them a time limit: Even if they are great at entertaining a crowd, lots of long-winded speeches may make your guests antsy. Ask them to keep it under 5 minutes.
  • Schedule the toasts: The time that toasts are expected to happen should be included when you plan your wedding day timeline. If there are quite a few, space them out throughout the day so they don't last too long all at once. Someone could propose a toast at the cocktail hour, another before dinner, and others during dinner or before dancing.
  • Know it's okay to say "no thank you": If you are worried about toasts taking up too much time during your reception, it's okay to request that those other than the people listed above refrain from toasting. You can do this by letting the DJ know that no one should be given the microphone without your permission. Also, if a person has been drinking heavily or is prone to telling inappropriate stories, you definitely do not want them to have unnecessary attention.

Hopefully the tips above can help you to plan a wedding that runs smoothly and is pleasant for everyone involved. Angelus Bridal has had the pleasure of knowing many brides over the years, and we have learned a few things from their experiences. Our own personal experience with wedding fashion has made us experts on that particular subject. If you are looking for your dream wedding dress, fashionable bridesmaid dresses, or something beautiful for your mother to wear, our South Florida bridal salon would love to help you out.

Quick-Fix Tips For the Groom's Clothing

Some people assume that it is easy for the groom to get ready on the wedding day - they just throw on a suit and they're done. Well, sometimes this is the case, but on occasion, they can have "wardrobe malfunctions" too. Angelus Bridal has put together a list of a few problems that the men in the wedding may run into, plus some helpful ideas on how to fix them.

Wrong Size
If you have ordered your tuxedo or suit for the wedding, you most likely will not see it until right before the wedding day. If a measurement was written down wrong or there was a mistake in shipping, it may not fit as well as you would like. In that case, if the other men in your wedding party are wearing similar clothing, trade with one of them if it's a better fit. It's much more important that the groom looks his best. The groomsmen should have your back on this.

If the shirt collar is too tight, you can loop a rubber band through the buttonhole and attach that around the button. This can then be easily hidden with a carefully placed necktie. Should you end up with pants that are a bit snug, safety pins can be looped together and used to fasten the pants, and then you can cover this unique rigging with the cummerbund.

Ripped Seam
Hopefully the bride or wedding planner has a well-stocked wedding day emergency kit on hand and someone can quickly sew you back up. If not, or there's simply not enough time to sew it, you may be able to turn the garment inside-out, hold it together at the seam, and use safety pins to tightly fasten it back together. As a last resort, a stapler or duct tape will work too, but be extra careful when removing those after the wedding so as not to damage the fabric.

Sweat Stains
There's a good chance your nerves may be acting up on a day as important as this special occasion. If you sweat excessively when you are nervous, or if you are getting married on an extremely hot day, you will want to take precautions to avoid this showing through your wardrobe.

An undershirt will absorb perspiration before it can reach the outer layer of clothing, and this can be changed between the ceremony and reception if needed. You can also shop for underarm garment shields to place under your armpit and absorb any extra perspiration. You may also want to bring along an extra button-down shirt to change into before the reception begins.

No Boutonniere
This will work for any of the men that are supposed to wear a boutonniere on the wedding day. If the florist doesn't deliver enough, pluck a few flowers from a centerpiece or bridesmaid's bouquet to use. Gather them together with string or tape, and creatively pin it so that the fastener doesn't show. It is very likely that no one will notice a difference.

Our South Florida bridal salon is a one-stop-shop when it comes to many of the things that you will need for your wedding in addition to the bridal gown and bridesmaid dresses. We also feature an in-house photographer, cake designer, makeup artist, florist, seamstress, and tuxedo rentals. Visit Angelus Bridal & Formals for magnificent wedding day fashion, exceptional customer service, and so much more!
