Beyond the Wedding Dress - Your Bridal Fashion Checklist

There are a lot of different checklists involved in planning a wedding. "Order your wedding dress" will definitely be on one of them, but over the months before your wedding, you are going to need more fashion items than just the gorgeous gown you will find at our South Florida bridal boutique. We want to make sure that you have everything you need to look your beautiful best, so here is an extended fashion checklist, beyond the wedding dress, from Angelus Bridal & Formals.

Lingerie
The items that you wear underneath your beautiful bridal gown are very important. They often make the dress fit better, exactly as it was meant to.
  • Bra
The style of your wedding dress will dictate what type of bra that you need to wear with it. We offer an amazing bra that works wonderfully with nearly every gown, and it was designed by our very own Coco Abadi, owner of Angelus Bridal & Formals. The "Flattering Me Bra" offers real support, natural cleavage, and comfort, which are all very important aspects for your bridal bra to have.
  • Underwear
Nude-colored underwear is the safest color to wear under your wedding dress to avoid it showing through the fabric. If there is no risk of that, pick out a really cute pair especially for that day. It could even be your "something blue."
  • Garter
If you will be taking part in the tradition of the garter toss at your reception, your guests will be seeing it, so you'll want it to be extra gorgeous. If it's so pretty that you don't want your groom to throw it away, have a spare with you to use for the garter toss.
  • Other Undergarments
For fitted gowns, you may want to purchase a body shaper to keep everything smooth and in place. On the other hand, if you have a ball gown, you may need to purchase an extra petticoat to bring it to the fullness you desire. Pick a slip that adds to the dress's beauty.
The Flattering Me Bra
Accessories
A wonderful way to add your own personal touch to your wedding day look is with the accessories that you choose. You may want to add a few or all of the following.
  • Veil & Headpiece
If you decide to wear a veil, the first step is to pick a length that looks good with your gown. Your headpiece will need to work well with the chosen veil, and if you plan to remove the veil for the reception, that headpiece should look amazing on its own too.
  • Hair Accessories
For up-dos, think about if you will want to have special hair accessories that will show, or if you prefer more subtle things that will not compete with a headpiece you will be wearing.
  • Jewelry
The easiest way to pick your jewelry is to use the details on your bridal gown for inspiration. It's usually best to not mix metals. If you have heirloom pieces already that you want to wear, take them to your wedding dress shopping appointment to make sure the two go well together.
  • Shoes
The style is important, especially if your gown allows the shoes to be seen easily, but comfort is even more important. If you find shoes that are too amazing to resist but not easy to wear for long periods of time, have a spare pair to slip into later in the evening.
  • Handbag
You probably won't be carrying a purse with you the entire day, but you will want to have a small handbag for essentials like your lipstick, cell phone, etc...

More Bridal Fashions
There are lots of events before the wedding day that you will want to have something special to wear. You may want some new outfits for a few things after the wedding too.
  • Pre-Wedding Parties
These include engagement parties, bridal showers, bachelorette parties, and the rehearsal dinner. You don't have to have a brand new outfit for each, but if you work it into the budget, it's a great excuse to go shopping!
  • Honeymoon Clothing
If you will be leaving for the honeymoon right away, plan to have these clothes packed and ready to go before the wedding. You'll be worn out after the big celebration and not want to rush to pack after. If you are waiting a few days before heading out, you might still want to have your shopping done early and to have it out of the way.
  • "Getaway" Outfit
This is for the bride that wants to make a quick-change before hopping into the car to leave the reception. It's not done as often as it used to be, but if you like making wardrobe changes or will be heading straight to the airport from the wedding, this is for you.

Don't let these additional fashion items add stress to your wedding planning. This is an area that you can really have some fun with. The consultants at our wedding dress store in Pompano Beach are happy to offer their expertise on this subject. It may sound like a lot to get together, but once you find your dream bridal gown, everything else will fall into place.

3 MORE Bridal Beauty Tips To Get You Wedding-Ready

Last week's blog offered 3 Bridal Beauty Tips To Get You Wedding-Ready, and today our Pompano Beach wedding dress store is following up with 3 more healthy habits to begin before your special day. Not only will you look even better than your already beautiful self, but you'll feel better too!

Watch What You Eat
Don't necessarily eat less, just make sure that you eat better. Change your eating habits to include healthier choices. It is completely possible to enjoy meals that are delicious and filling but not packed with calories, fats, and other things you should try to avoid having too much of. Try your best to stay away from sugars, processed foods, and anything that is high in sodium, which can cause puffiness, bloating, and a lack of energy.

Drink lots (and lots) of water, which is great for the inside of your body and also for the skin on the outside. Occasionally allow a "cheat meal" to reward yourself for taking on these new healthy eating habits.

Exercise
If you put off exercising until you run out of time for it each day, start doing it first thing in the morning. Get up early if you have to. Getting it out of the way early will motivate you and provide extra energy for the rest of the day. Having workout buddies, like your bridesmaids or your fiance, can make it easier to accomplish and a lot more fun. Aim to tackle both cardio and strength training, giving special focus to any areas that your wedding dress will show off like your upper arms or back.

Get Stress Under Control

A healthy mind contributes to a healthy body. Wedding planning can be a stressful task, but keeping that stress under control will help you to stay on track with the planning and with the tips we have suggested above. Find out what works the best for you: yoga, meditation, running, a bike ride, reading, etc... and work that into your daily schedule. Pencil it into your calendar if you have to. Make sure that you have a regular sleep routine in place too. A good night's sleep reduces stress, gives you energy, improves memory, and can even aid in weight loss.

If you are wishing to lose a significant amount of weight before the wedding day, we highly suggest that you buy a wedding dress that fits you right now. It is a lot easier and much less expensive for a seamstress to make a dress smaller than to try to add fabric to make it bigger if you do not lose all of the weight you were hoping to.

The talented consultants at our bridal boutique in South Florida are experts at finding gowns for women of every size and shape that accentuate their best assets. Let Angelus Bridal put you in the perfect wedding dress that will bring out the natural beauty you already are. Adding the beauty tips above to the mix will only make your current gorgeous even more amazing!

Bridal Beauty Tips To Get You Wedding-Ready

Everyone wants to look their absolute best at their wedding, so an upcoming marriage is an excellent motivation to get into great shape. Picking up a few new healthy habits in the months leading up to the big day will not only help you to look amazing in that gorgeous gown you found at our South Florida bridal salon, but it will also get you into a routine that will greatly benefit you after the wedding too. Here are the first 3 of 6 tips from us at Angelus Bridal & Formals to help you get started.

Brighten That Smile
This is a joyous and exciting time in your life, so lots of smiling will be going on! Getting your teeth their whitest before all of those wedding photos are taken will make that beautiful smile shine even brighter. There are many kinds of toothpaste and whitening strips available that you can do on your own at home, or you can have a dentist take care of it professionally. Either process will take some time, so start as early as possible.

Once your smile is once again bright and beaming, don't ruin all of that work it took to get your teeth there. At least until the wedding is over, try to avoid foods and drinks that will restain them, like coffee or red wine. If you must drink these, using a straw can help to keep dark drinks away from your teeth.

Enhance Your Skincare Routine
This tip is not only for your face but also all of the other skin covering your entire body. Avoid using harsh soaps and instead choose cleansers that are made for specific areas of skin. Always pat your skin dry, never rub it with the towel, and always moisturize. You'll want to eliminate rough patches now, like on your heels and elbows, so that they are soft and smooth by the time the wedding day rolls around. Don't forget those lips too! Exfoliate them to remove any dry skin and keep them well moisturized.

If you will be sugaring or waxing to remove hair, try a treatment long enough before the wedding that you can see how your body will react to it. That will let you know the best time to have it done before the wedding day so that your skin does not look irritated. You might want to start using a self-tanner too so that your skin will have a nice, light glow about it.

Get Your Nails Into Shape
Everyone will want to get a look at your lovely engagement ring, so making sure that your hands and nails look their best is one of the first things that you should take care of. (Find additional tips in our blog "7 Bridal Beauty Tips for Fabulous Fingernails and Smooth Hands.") You'll want them to look great for the wedding ring photos too. Give yourself mini-manicures regularly to keep them in shape between trips to the salon.

Those 3 bridal beauty tips are a great place to start, and next week Angelus Bridal will have 3 more Bridal Beauty Tips To Get You Wedding-Ready. One additional tip that we can offer you today is to use the buddy system to motivate yourself to start a healthy routine and keep it up. Your bridesmaids will most likely want to look their best in those fabulous bridesmaid dresses you found at our bridal boutique in Pompano Beach. Your future husband could benefit from many of these tips too. Healthy habits started now can help the two of you to live a long life together.

Popular Wedding Trends For 2018

Last week's blog took a look at some of the Wedding Dress Trends to Keep an Eye Out For in 2018. Today our wedding dress store in Pompano Beach decided to extend that theme by taking a look at a few of the ceremony and reception trends that brides will be leaning toward this year.

Colors & Textures
Pantone, the leading expert on color, named the Color of the Year for 2018 to be Ultra Violet. They describe it as dramatic, provocative, and thoughtful, communicating originality, ingenuity, and visionary thinking. We think it will be a beautiful and fun color for wedding decor, and it will make for some very lovely bridesmaid dresses.

Metallics are often used to decorate for special occasions. Last year lots of rose gold was used, but in 2018 we expect to see more silvers, chromes, and coppers. Transparent items will be extremely popular too, such as glass tables, lucite signage, crystal accents, and even see-through papers for invitations.

Multiple textures used in the same space is an interesting look that will be incorporated a lot. Just like your bridesmaid dresses don't have to match, neither do your reception tables. You can use 2 or 3 different types of looks with differently textured linens draped over each other. Just be sure to have some element on each table that ties them all together.

Smaller, Fancier Weddings
Couples seem to be throwing smaller, more intimate weddings for their closest family and friends. This is excellent for keeping a budget under control, and if money is no object, it allows you to spend more on each person because you aren't spreading the funds out among a few hundred guests.

Brides and grooms are also looking to throw a more formal affair, but without a stuffy feeling. This involves getting dressed up and using more luxurious decor and traditional wedding customs, yet still creating a fun vibe and relaxed atmosphere.

Hanging Florals
When it comes to the beautiful blooms you will use at your wedding, the newest trend is to suspend them from above everyone's heads! Probably not an easy feat to accomplish on your own, but a talented florist should be able to figure something out for you. Hanging pretty wreaths of greenery with gorgeous flowers of different colors is another trend that is back. They can be added to doorways, chair backs, ceremony aisles, backdrops, and more, and you can even incorporate printed wreaths onto your stationery.

Trends are a lot of fun to keep an eye on each year, but at the end of the day, the best choice for your wedding is your favorite things, even if they aren't the "popular" thing that year. When you come into Angelus Bridal & Formals, we will never try to force you to fall in love with a gown. Instead, we will listen to your needs and desires to help you find that gorgeous wedding dress you've always dreamed of wearing. Our South Florida bridal salon has a variety of different exquisite styles in many sizes to accommodate every bride and her very special personal style. Come on in and have a look for yourself!

3 Wedding Dress Trends to Keep an Eye Out For in 2018

It's a new year and everyone is anxious to see what the new trends in weddings will be, including all of us here at Angelus Bridal & Formals. The tried and true classic and traditional looks are always there in some shape or form, but certain elements always stand out above the rest each season.

Wedding professionals try to predict what brides will lean toward in the coming year, and these predictions are a wonderful inspiration for anyone planning a ceremony and reception. Today, our South Florida bridal boutique has picked a few of the 2018 wedding fashion trends that we love the look of. (Of course, we love the look of every style when it comes to weddings, but we expect to see lots of brides wanting these in the near future!)

Shorter Bridal Gowns
Floor-length wedding dresses will never go out of style, but many brides are starting to seek out shorter gowns, anywhere from mid-length all the way up to mini skirts. High-low hemlines are also an excellent style, showing off a bit of leg in front but still giving you some dramatic length in the back. The tea-length skirt popular, a very vintage, reminiscent look you would expect to see Audrey Hepburn wearing in the '50s, sassy and romantic.

Minimalist Styles
We still love a bridal gown covered in lace and ruffles, and we know that many brides will be searching for that type of style in the coming year. On the other hand, clean, modern silhouettes seem to be making their way to the forefront. Lots of brides are looking for a more minimalist look for their dress, allowing them to be a little bolder with accessories without taking away from the refined style of the gown.

Bows
Bows never went away completely, but in 2018 they will be back big time. Expect to see them in many different places on wedding dresses, including around the waist, down the back, and as embellishments on the bodice and skirt. Designers are especially fond of putting them on shoulders for this year. They can be made in the same color as the entire gown, or you can use bows to add a fun pop of color to your wedding day look.

While we love sharing the upcoming trends we expect to see a lot of brides asking for at our Pompano Beach Bridal Salon, we cannot stress enough that a trend is not a rule! When it comes to your wedding day style, it doesn't matter what everyone else is wearing. The most important thing about picking your bridal gown is to find something that makes you happy and looks and feels like "the one" when you slip into it.

When you come into Angelus Bridal & Formals for your wedding dress shopping appointment, our talented consultants will help guide you to the perfect gown to match your personal style and looks beautiful on your particular shape. Stick to what you truly love and, who knows, you very well may start the newest trend for next year!
