Tips For Handling The Toasts At Your Wedding

Once the "I do's" are done and the reception has started, that's when the toasts generally begin. There are a few people that should be heard from and some important things that need to be said. This can cause some awkward moments if you don't have a plan, so Angelus Bridal & Formals put together a few tips so everything can go as smoothly as possible.

BRIDE & GROOM TOASTS
It is important to thank all of your guests for joining you on this very special day. Plan a point during the reception when you and your groom can do this. Here are a few tips to keep in mind.

Think ahead: It is perfectly okay to speak from the heart with whatever comes to mind in the moment, but it's wise to have an idea of what you will say ahead of time. Think about the important things you don't want to forget to mention, and come up with a good closing line.
Keep it short & sweet: Even if there is a lot that you want to say, any speech longer than 3-5 minutes may lose your audience's attention.
Speak clearly: Don't talk too quickly, and make sure that you speak loud enough so that everyone can hear you.

WEDDING PARTY TOASTS
Traditionally, there are certain people that are expected to say a few words in honor of the bride & groom. You will want to give them a few guidelines so that the toasts don't get embarrassing or run too long.

Choose who will toast: It is acceptable for you to pick and choose who you will allow to give a toast at your wedding. This way you can monitor how many take place and how long they will last. Ask first, and don't force anyone to speak that is not comfortable doing so. Generally, toasts are expected from the best man, the maid/matron of honor, and the couple's parents.
Give them a time limit: Even if they are great at entertaining a crowd, lots of long-winded speeches may make your guests antsy. Ask them to keep it under 5 minutes.
Schedule the toasts: The time that toasts are expected to happen should be included when you plan your wedding day timeline. If there are quite a few, space them out throughout the day so they don't last too long all at once. Someone could propose a toast at the cocktail hour, another before dinner, and others during dinner or before dancing.
Know it's okay to say "no thank you": If you are worried about toasts taking up too much time during your reception, it's okay to request that those other than the people listed above refrain from toasting. You can do this by letting the DJ know that no one should be given the microphone without your permission. Also, if a person has been drinking heavily or is prone to telling inappropriate stories, you definitely do not want them to have unnecessary attention.

Wedding favors aren't something that you absolutely have to have at your wedding, but it's a great way to add a little whimsy and say thank you to the guests for sharing your special day. Purchase a Bridesmaid Dress

One of the first things to be done is to find and purchase something stunning to wear. How to Handle Rain on Your Wedding Day

No one wants it to happen, but rain on your wedding day is always a possibility. If you are having an outdoor wedding, you really need to make plans just in case this happens to you. Your gorgeous hairstyle, perfect makeup, and that exquisite wedding dress that you bought at our South Florida bridal boutique need to be kept dry.

Angelus Bridal & Formals has a few ideas for you on how to keep the rain at bay and still enjoy this special day.

Remain calm.

Number one, a little, or even a lot, of rain does not have to spoil your wedding day. You may be a bit disappointed if everything was supposed to take place outside, but don't waste too much time being upset about it. Remember that old saying, "Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass. It's about learning to dance in the rain!"

Actually, some cultures look at a rainy wedding as a sign of good luck. It symbolizes fertility and cleansing. Your entire day doesn't need to be ruined because it's wet outside. As long as you are married to the one that you love when it's all over, then your wedding was a success.

Always have a plan.

If you thought about the possibility of rain during your wedding planning process, then you should have a few backup plans in place to keep everything running smoothly. Have an indoor spot reserved for a backup, or a tent rented to keep the weather off of all of your guests. Today you can rent tents that have elegant walls with windows, and they are more like a sheltered oasis than simply something to cover your head. Even if the rain stays away, a tent for an outdoor wedding is still a nice touch in case anyone wants to get out of the sun.

Find adorable umbrellas that match your wedding colors or theme, and have enough for everyone in the wedding party. You may even want to have umbrellas available for all of the guests if you have a crowd that will brave a light rain. These will make great favors, and can be returned if they are not necessary. (Just don't remove the tags until you are sure you'll be using them.)

Keep yourself dry.

Before the ceremony, take precautions to keep everyone's wedding fashions dry. Keep everything zipped up tight in garment bags until you arrive at your destination to get ready. Ladies, you will want to take extra care to keep long gowns up off of the ground.

If you need to go outside for photos after the rain has stopped, lay down a tarp or something similar to walk on. Your photographer should be creative enough to keep it out of the pictures.

Have fun with it!

Take this unfortunate turn of events and roll with it. Getting upset isn't going to make the rain stop, it will just ruin your day. Choose, instead, to make a few memories that wouldn't be possible without the rain. 7 Tips to Find the Perfect Bridesmaid Dresses

Finding the perfect bridesmaid dress in South Florida is a very important task on your wedding to-do list. 20 Tips For a Smoother Wedding Experience

Over the years, our South Florida wedding dress store has met many brides and grooms. They have had some wonderful tips and tricks for getting through the wedding planning experience easily. A few learned these things through mistakes that were made. Angelus Bridal & Formals would like to share a few of these wedding hacks with you so that you don't run into the same problems.

PLANNING STAGE

Keep pen & paper, or your digital version of those, handy at all times. You never know when inspiration may strike.
Open a wedding email account. Give this address out for all wedding-related correspondence. That way, it's all in one place and won't get mixed up with your everyday emails. You can also close the account after the wedding and skip marketing emails you no longer need.
Use a wet sponge or glue stick to seal invitation envelopes. You will avoid paper cuts and that disgusting glue taste.
Write your thank you notes as soon as gifts arrive so that you don't have as many to write after the wedding. Also, place a sticker with the giver's name on each gift until you write the thank you in case the card gets misplaced.
At least once a week, do something with your spouse that allows no wedding talk at all. This will keep you both connected and fresh for future planning.

FASHION TIPS

First and foremost, make an appointment to try on wedding gowns. This will guarantee that you aren't waiting around for a dressing room behind a line of other women. You get the undivided attention of a consultant when you have an appointment.

Ladies, wear a robe or button-up shirt while getting your hair and makeup done. You won't have to worry about pulling a shirt over your head and messing up your look.
Appoint someone, like the maid of honor and best man, to be in charge of the bride & groom's phones for the day. You will be busy enjoying the experience. They can field any calls you may receive and be in charge of the selfies.
Do not pick up your own bouquet directly out of the vase. It will be wet and drip all over your dress. Have someone else pick it up, dry it off, and hand it to you.

FOR THE RECEPTION

Give the DJ a list of songs to definitely play and another list of songs that should never be heard at any point during the night.
If a speech goes too long or gets embarrassing, cue the DJ to cut the microphone.
Ask the caterer to set aside a plate for the two of you. Occasionally, couples get busy enjoying the reception and greeting guests, and they miss out on the best food. Setting some aside assures that you get to eat what you paid for.
Prepare a quiet, out-of-the-way spot for the two of you to sneak away to during the reception. A few minutes alone during all of the excitement is a wonderful and special treat.

Everyone wants their wedding day to go perfectly. At the end of the day, as long as you are married to the person you love, then it did. As far as everything else, well, unexpected things are bound to happen. If you take a little bit of time ahead of your wedding day to prepare, those unwelcome surprises can be fixed and out of your way easily.

A great way to head these off before they become gigantic trouble is to put together a wedding day emergency kit. Many of the items that you will want to include in this kit are things that you already have around the house. Gathering them together can end up saving the day.
